The property is beautiful, there's a plunge pool and a lovely garden. Everything you could need for self catering and spaces to eat in comfort. Outstanding.

Host was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The property is fairly well located, quite close to the centre but far enough away that it is quiet. It is on a quiet dead-end road which means there isn't much traffic going past, it felt very safe. There is a corner shop around 10 minute walk away. The property has good views looking out of the hotel district and the sea. The room itself was clean, well looked after, and had most of the facilities anyone would need. The kitchen had the basics required to cook, the we particularly liked the 'sun room', great for lounging after a long walk! Having a pool was also great as it allowed us to cool off. Overall would definitely recommend! While I'm sure other hotels have similar facilities, and friendliness of the host elevated it for us!

I don’t even know where to begin… The accomodation was great, with a private kitchen and bathroom. Spacious, clean, good beds, quiet area. The outdoor patio was nice, with separate seating areas and a pool with loungers. It was a 20 minute steep down/up hill walk to the city centre, but with a bus stop next door. Overall great location. But what made it fantastic were the hosts. They were all I could want for my first solo vacation. A little chat here, a safety check there, really really awesome people. Definitely recommend staying here!!

I liked everything 🤗 Great views, pool, super friendly helpful owner. And one of few places offering a good price as a single traveller. Nice peaceful garden with loungers etc. Honestly just blown away what a gem it was Walk down into the centre takes 20 mins and a bit longer back up. As a keen walker that's fine but may not suit everyone. But there are buses or taxis as required. If you have a car there is free parking across main road in a side street about 50-100m away. Very handy.

I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. From the moment I arrived the hosts were so welcoming and friendly. The room was spotless with comfortable beds, good facilities for cooking, clean and modern bathroom, spacious sitting area and a beautiful large balcony with panoramic views of Funchal. I spent hours just sitting and enjoying the view. The pool and gardens were beautiful and I was able to feel like I had the place to myself! When I come back to Funchal, I’ll be staying here again!

A lovely hillside full of beautiful apartments/villas, with great views to the sea and Funchal. The central forum heated outdoor pool is free to use, but you will need to pay quite a bit extra for the gym (very tiny and not much equipment)/indoor pool which is based in the spa buildings at the top of the hill. See the hotel website for details. We had a car, so driving up and down the hill between the pool and villa was fine, but it would be a good walk up/down the hill if you didn't. I'd say staying here, a car makes things much much more convenient than if you don't have a car.

Booked a 2 bed apartment for my family of 4, which was perfect. Well equipped kitchen, with towels for pool and apartment. Central pool, with bar area, table tennis, a lounge area with pool table and darts. Very helpful reception area with dvd available. At the top of the village is the golf course, hotel and spa. Managed to see most of the island in our visit, which is absolutely beautiful, and the people are so friendly.

Came as an Expedia deal with Easyjet flights and very good value. Palheiro is perched on a hillside (like much of Madeira!) and is very spacious and fitted to a very high standard - could happily live in the accomodation. Pool area lovely, TV in a lounge if the one in your house is being watched by someone else, pool table and an excellent restaurant at the Golf Club. Staff very helpful and friendly as well. Car essential (even to go to the Golf Club really) as shops and attractions not within walking distance and the beach is 1500ft below (and the mountain 4500ft above!!), though there is a bus in and out of Funchal. Views are superb, but early and late season could mean some cooling of morning and nights due to the height restricting use of the excellent balconies for eating. Excellent place to stay in Madeira and one of the best self catering apartments we have stayed in globally.

Palheiro village is set up away from Funchal in the hills. The duplex we stayed in was extremely spacious and well-appointed with full kitchen and washing facilities. The staff were extremely helpful. The pool was the perfect temperature and had an 'honesty' bar. There was also a communal room with a pool table, tv, and computer. There was a bus stop nearby, and the taxi to town was €12. A wonderful place.

We stayed for one week in a 2 bed appartment. The property was very good (5 star) with great views over Funchal and the atlantic. The whole Palheiro estate is very nice and very well kept , the staff very friendly and the location is very good (10 min drive from Funchal). Our children enjoyed the community pool, table tennis and pool table. We enjoyed our stay and would go again.

The villa was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed and more. The resort had plenty of food options that were all great. Service was good. Our personal small villa pool had warm water but every other pool on the resort was cold and there were no hot tubs. The kids splash pad was a nice surprise as it was not advertised on their website. Location was close to a beautiful hike but a little far from the city. Keep in mind that parking and shuttles cost extra. Some things that were not so great are that our balcony doors would not open or unlock at all downstairs and the doors in the upstairs balcony would not lock. The bathroom also had some plumbing connection issue and although it was thoroughly cleaned it always smelled of piss.

Absolutely the best All-Inclusive resort in Madeira. Dreams is a recently re-branded hotel resort complex covering a vast area from the beach all the up through a mini village. With a variety of rooms, and services on offer including restaurants, cafes and pools. Staff are incredible, always happy to help and seem very happy to work there with the exception of the World Cafe. We noticed over a period of the 3 nights we were staying there that there was a little battle going on with the local Madeiran staff and non local staff which to be honest is ugly and unacceptable. This happened to one of the cooks on station, he was shouted at by another cook which wasn't very nice. We also noticed this was done in front of guests which isn't very professional and we tried raising this with reception however, we were told to make any complaints through their website!! I informed the receptionist it wasn't a complaint but an observation but was ignored. Moving on, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and everything except the world cafe staff was just as expected from a Hyatt brand. I understand the hotel is opening in phases but would suggest more entertainment in the evening. Food was exceptional Staff were professional (mostly) Facilities that were open were great Getting around, very easy Internet, very fast Using the App to reserve restaurants, activities, great idea Free minibar in the room

Insgesamt ein absolut zu empfehlendes Hotel in ruhiger Lage. Die Anlage und die Zimmer sind sehr schön und top gepflegt. Das Personal war stets hilfsbereit und freundlich. Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen und auch die Qualität in den A-la-Carte Restaurants ist hervorragend. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das Cocoa Café, das sehr leckeren Kaffee aus dem Siebträger zu bieten hat! Ebenso gehören das Steak-Restaurant und die Sushi-Bar zu unseren Highlights. Kostenlose Parkplätze gibt es direkt am Hotel. Das Hotel hat seine fünf Sterne verdient und ist eines der besten, das wir je besucht haben. Einziges kleines Manko ist, dass der Indoor-Pool noch nicht fertiggestellt ist, ansonsten lässt das Hotel wirklich keine Wünsche offen.

Das Hotel ist weitläufig angelegt, sehr neu und hochwertig renoviert. Verschiedene Pools mit Bars, ein Meerwasserpool und direkter Meerzugang sind nutzbar. 5 Restaurants standen zur Verfügung. Die Speisen sind sehr hochwertig und gut zubereitet und wirklich sehr schmackhaft. Ein Tisch kann über eine App problemlos reserviert werden. Die Belegschaft ist außerordentlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. In der Nähe gibt es einen schönen Wanderweg der zu Fuß erreichbar ist. Im Hotel gibt es auch einen kostenfreien Parkplatz.Nach Funchal kann ein Shuttle reserviert werden. Einige Bauarbeiten finden noch statt, sind aber kaum bemerkbar. Der Indoorpool war noch nicht geöffnet.

What a beautiful hotel! We loved the pool cafe/bar. The staff are extremely welcoming and the property is very clean. The drinks at the bars are also very good. We loved our stay here.

Very comfortable accommodation (spacious as well - we had three double bed rooms for the two of us though) Well appointed, quality fittings. Great to have bathtub as well as showers. Fantastic views over to Funchal and out into the Atlantic. Great restaurant at the Golf club at the top of the complex (but a steep hike). On a very steep hill (like a lot of Madeira), so good for running if you like a lot of exertion. Hot (luke-warm, actually) tub with our apartment, plus an outdoor swimming pool in the centre of the complex (cool temperature).

Very spacious place with spectacular ocean, garden and city views. Well equipped with everything you might need during your stay. Close to supermarket and pharmacy. Nice shared swimming pool uphill in the middle of the complex. Easy and clear instructions concerning checking in. Friendly facilities management to help you with questions. Highly recommend.

The apartment has met our expectations to the fullest. We had an apartment on ground entrance level which direct view onto the sea and the harbour of Funchal. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need. There is no cleaning service or chanching of towels/bed sheets included (we booked 7 nights) but can be requested upon an additional charge. Checking in was super easy and communication before arrival has been smooth. Location is perfect as you are 15 minutes from the airport and around the same time from Funchal.

Our room with a seaview (on the 6th floor) exceeded our expectations. It was spacious and comfortable: we particularly liked the large balcony with a table and two chairs where we read, enjoyed a drink and could people watch. Every member of staff was warm, happy to help, and professional. Choices available at breakfast were excellent and constantly replenished. The hotel is an easy walk to a number of the sights and a wide choice of restaurants. The roof terrace is a plus: a small plunge pool in which to cool off; loungers, deckchairs and a choice of tables and chairs; a bar serving drinks and snacks with a smile!

Great location - super convenient for the centre of Funchal and the old town and not much of a hill to go up to it. All staff fantastic and always smiling, really good breakfast, rooms good size and like the rest of the hotel very clean and tidy, views from the roof top bar/ pool superb - it was a really good choice for us! Couple of minor comments - - the pool was really cold! In fairness it is February but the sea was warmer. - when you get out of the pool the floor becomes really slippery - the is our only real negative as this could be quite dangerous - two us slipped a bit. - the spirits in the bar are a little pricey All in all though we had a great time in Madeira and would definitely recommend and stay at this hotel again!

This was our second time staying at Turim Santa Maria and it was most enjoyable again. Excellent location, near old town but on a quiet tree-lined street, close proximity to all town amenities & promenade.Staff are excellent here friendly , efficient and most profesional & acccomodating.A special mention for Luigi who was most helpful & informative also Tanya.Lovely breakfast, great variety food, fresh and very well presented by staff there. Rooms were very clean, modern, good facilities and beds very comfortable.Excellent lighting, ensuite very well laid out & spacious.Hotel spacious & modern overall,lovely foyer giving the appearance of calm and relaxing.Living wall along the steps down to the dining room is a lovely feature,and this is repeated on the walls of the hotel on the roof by the swimming pool.The rooftop pool is a fabulous feature, with 360o view all around from the town, sea and hills. Shaded sun beds also available. We were granted our request for a room with balcony facing the sea, which we absolutely loved.WE would HIGHLY recommend this Hotel in Funchal.

Really lovely hotel. Amazing location, and staff were great. Very easy check in, great breakfast included, clean and comfortable room with a fridge and large bottle of water that they refill every day. Lovely rooftop bar with nice drinks and pool that unfortunately we didnt get to use as the weather was a bit cold but looked so nice. Service was good, all staff were so pleasant. What really made it special is that during the day, a bottle of prosecco and muffins were left in the room for my birthday. I did not mention anything about my birthday or make a huge deal so was not expecting it at all but they noticed the date on my passport and made the effort. This extra touch really made the stay special. If you are staying in Funchal, I would highly recommend this hotel.

1. Breakfast included, also liked a variety of food choices: from chia pudding to potato nuggets and fresh fruits. Especially being a vegeterian I found everyday what to eat, for vegans it would be difficult. 2. The view from our room. We were speechless.. You can watch the sea, sunrise and sunsets just from your balcony. Huge thanks to staff’cause we asked specifically this room. 3. All of the staff was super friendly. 4. Room service. 5. Private parking (but chargeable 6€/day). 6. Outdoor pools and plenty of space for sunbathing. 6. The birthday surprise on the house and mini gift after check out. So nice and caring! 7. The mini bar by the pool! 8. Live music (depends on the day).

It's a great hotel, about 5 minutes' walk from the natural swimming pool, where you pay a small entrance fee, but the experience of swimming is worth it. There is also access to the beach itself in this direction. The hotel has a beautiful terrace with a swimming pool, where you can enjoy the amazing view and the sunset, as well as a pleasant bar, where you can take a great cocktail. A large shopping center is 10 minutes' walk from the hotel. We will definitely come back here.

Fantastic location. Attentive staff team. Exceptional cleanliness with high quality linens, changed daily. Fantastic breakfast buffet with individual Gluten Free pastry and bread basket. Great little outside bar by the pool in the afternoon with reasonably priced drinks including cocktails. Plenty of sun beds with umbrellas by pool, on lawn and on sea view terrace. A really, really great hotel with excellent facilities and services, peaceful, calm and quiet. Don’t hesitate to book.

The staff were so friendly and attentive. The breakfast selection was outstanding. My children loved the inside pool, outdoor pool and the snooker table. We loved the kind staff.

Booked via jet2 for all inclusive. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all good variety, healthy and tasty. Pool snacks available from 4pm and also good selection. AI drinks slightly limited as premium spirits not included but we mainly drink soft drinks, beer and wine so that was okay. Rose wine was better than the white (in my opinion) and hubbie got fed up with Coral beer but that is the main one on the island. As we had such a good price for the holiday we intended to go out anyway, and we enjoyed a superb meal at Window to Asia just a few mins walk down the road, and also at Gavina’s down the hill by the sea (plus brilliant cocktails!). Our room was on 11th floor with gorgeous view of the sea overlooking lovely gardens of next door apartments. Nice 30/40 min easy walk to central Funchal. Easy to get Bolt anywhere, didn’t use the complimentary bus as wanted to come and go as please. Recommend a walk to Forum Madeira mall down the road if you like clothes shopping! Daughter loved it. Nice bars and restaurants down the road to the sea. Steep walk back though, so beware! Indoor and outdoor pool lovely and always sun beds. Only criticism is one day our towels weren’t changed but otherwise we had a great time.

Stunning hotel in amazing location. We stayed here end of August, with our son, partner and 1 year old grandson. The hotel is spotless. Rooms are a good size, with views of the ocean. Indoor and outdoor pools were used daily by us. Indoor pool less crowded. Breakfast had lots of choice. The evening entertainment was really good and varied. All staff were so friendly and helpful with our grandson. He absolutely loved it. Only slight criticism was that there are just 2 lifts and the size of them. Never the less, we loved it so much, we have already rebooked to return next year! Keep up all your hard work. It is really appreciated.

This hotel is huge - it has 15 floors! Breakfast was great, nice variety of food. Hotel has 3 restaurants - one with buffet for dinner, one a la carte, and one next to the outdoor swimming pool. 2 swimming pools - one indoor and one outdoors, plus a public swimming spot 10 min from the hotel to swim in the ocean. Room had a balcony, tea and coffee inside, and a TV. In the evening there was also live music in the lobby.

This hotel is very clean and well maintained. Our room was above average size. Breakfast was excellent, lots offered. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Then there is the pool deck offering indoor and outdoor pools, snack bar and sun deck with chairs. Views of Funchal from the sun decks was quite nice. This hotel is truly a gem

Lovely hotel which was spotlessly clean. Most staff were very friendly a few needed to smile! We stayed All Inclusive which i wouldn't recommend. The lunch was pretty poor with little choice. We really didn't think much to the food, the Evening Meal wasn't much better although the breakfast was lovely. Our room was vry large & was cleaned daily but tea & coffee was never replenished. We had a fridge in the room which was empty. We have been going All Inclusive for 30 years and we have never paid for cocktails or A La Carte meals but this hotel charged. The drinks were pretty poor. The outside areas were kept very clean & tidy & very quiet with no music. We felt the outdoor pools were very poor but there was a lovely indoor pool which we used most days. Madeira is a place that people are out & about exploring. The hotel has a free shuttle bus to Funchal which needs to be booked. It dropped us in the centre & we walked to the cable car where we had a lovely day exploring the beautiful gardens & a toboggan ride down. We looked around the market where there was fresh fruit, fish & flowers. Did a trip with Jet2 to see the West of the Island. The guide was a lovely man who was very professional and knowledgeable. Lots of places to go sightseeing. We wouldn't return as we saw everything that we wanted to see.

Everything was good as i stayed there a few times over the years, but my only complaint is the swimming pool, as i used to work as a life guard years ago at the madeira regency club, the pool looks like theres not much care for. It is all yellow at the bottom around the corners and also around the top of the swimming pool.

Mixed reviews on this hotel Bad- Bathrooms are very dated and desperately in need of upgrade. This is a shame as the actual hotel room was lovely. Food wasn’t anywhere near 4 star variety or quality, but was passable. Top tip would be the Parada Mix Restaurant right at the pool exit to the hotel- truly an amazing find with delicious evening meals and fantastic service. A hidden gem ! Try it at least once. Good- Great views from sea view balcony. Massive comfy bed. Staff are wonderful….. Especially Laura ( I believe) on reception who went above and beyond helping to sort a room change for me due to my bad foot, and also the beautifully dressed smiley blonde lady in the restaurant who was always there and always happy! The waiting and cleaning staff were also all incredibly polite and lovely. Staff truly make or break a hotel stay and the staff here were great. Always plenty of sunloungers by the pool and lots of shady hanging chairs and rest areas. This was a bargain last minute break and whilst it wasn’t quite 4 star, it was good value for money and I would go again at this price. Thank you

Our stay at Muthu Raga Hotel in Madeira was absolutely fantastic when we did the trip 11th to the 17h of September 2024! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The hotel’s location is perfect, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding landscapes. Waking up to such stunning scenery was truly a dream. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, with every detail thought out for comfort and relaxation. We especially loved the balcony, where we spent peaceful mornings enjoying the warm weather while gazing at the sea. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They were attentive, always ready to assist with a smile, and made us feel right at home. The hotel's amenities, including the pool and dining areas, were top-notch. We had the pleasure of dining at their restaurant, where the food was not only delicious but also highlighted the local flavors of Madeira. Overall, our stay at Muthu Raga Hotel was an unforgettable experience. The combination of exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, and comfortable accommodations made it a perfect getaway. We can’t wait to return!

Being closer to the airport for our arrival and departure days allowed us extra time to explore the island, which was one of the key reasons we chose this hotel. Like most islands, you can travel across 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐚 in just a couple of hours—end to end takes less than 4 hours. However, it always makes life easier to book a hotel in a well-located area. Another reason we chose this hotel was its excellent facilities. It features a pool, on-site parking, a restaurant, and a spa to enhance our holiday experience. Plus, the ocean view from our balcony room was stunning! We always enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets from there. We highly recommend this hotel for your holiday in 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐚! ❤️

It is very well located with a lot of dining shopping options within walking distance… if you don’t mind walking up and down hills. Parking on site is very limited and parking on the street is also limited, but doable. The appearance of the hotel is older, but it’s well maintained. Comfortable beds. What I enjoy the most was the buffet breakfast: great options and delicious. I also liked the pool and shaded patio area

Although the hotel is near the flight path of the airport, this didn't put us off with the noise as they flew in during the day time and the sea was so close that the waves were in the background. The only gripe we had was that the gym was added on with the spa and to access the gym it cost 11 euros a day/session so we were not informed of this beforehand and this was too higher price with poor facilities for the cost. If you booked a spa day the gym and pool access were included for 12 hours access. This was obviously run by a different company and an add on to the hotel. The hotel swimming pool although cold and a shock to initially get use to was bearable if the sun was shining and above 23 degrees for sunbathing. The cost of the meals at the hotel were twice to three times as much as eating out at a local taverna. All inclusive with First choice/Thompson including meals and drinks cost the same as Expedia with B&B; so its a choice you need to realise before yo go.

Just arrived back after spending a brilliant week at the villa gale...can't vault the hotel everything was amazing...food cleaniness staff...have to mention Sandra at the pool bar she was a star....we had a sea view room on the 2nd floor..Nice and spacious free safe got a kettle from reception to make a brew...everywhere was spottlesy clean..cleaners worked really hard...so did all the staff in the restaurant...we were all inclusive and the choice of food was amazing..and @pool bar menu plenty of choices...and drinks and the cocktail of the day which we enjoyed......there were plenty of sunbeds to relax...so all in all 10/10.

Exceptionally clean rooms and spa/pool area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food - top notch! Loved having sea view and sound whilst relaxing in the pool area. Lovely traditional entertainment.

We loved the view to the ocean, the proximity to the airport, the inddor swimming pool (the outdoor swimming pool looked great too, but it was too cold outside to use it). It was quite special to wake up to the sounds of the ocean. The breakfast is very good, with many options. We also liked Satna Cruz, which is a lovely small town. All in all, we recommended this hotel.

We quite enjoyed our stay at this Hotel- The location in Santa Cruz is fantastic...sea air, ocean walks, pool side views of the sea... enjoyable to walk about as well in Santa Cruz. It is certainly a relaxing option over busy Funchal. The amenities were fabulous. We loved both indoor and outdoor pools. The brunch was served in a large airy room with good variety. We do hope to return....

The staff was super friendly and always available to help. The pool was lovely. There were enough sunbeds and parasols for everyone. You could order a fresh drink or snack to have at the pool. The staff made a reservation for us at the nearby restaurant. The breakfast was amazing, great bread, some patisserie, lovely yoghurt and granola, fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, ham, fresh coffee, fresh orange juice etc... There was also an honesty bar with some board games. The room was clean with a good shower.

This stay was a perfect way to end our time on Madeira! The building and rooms are beautiful and it's clear that significant effort goes into making sure guests are comfortable and well-taken care of. The bed seemed pretty big compared to other stays and the rainfall shower was nice too. The garden and pool area are also peaceful and pretty. But the thing we're going to remember is the breakfast!!! So good - tons of options, super fresh, everything we had was delicious. The staff are wonderful and welcoming - thanks so much for a great stay!

This is a wonderful little property with tons of amenities. I particularly liked the breakfast. There were lots of options and both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a common living room with a cozy fireplace (they light it later in the evening) and lots of great places to sit outside in the sun near the pool. The staff were all incredible.

Amazing location! Rooms could have more windows but mattress are super cozy! Nice pool, have a living room with a bar you can have a drink at night and a hot bathtub outside which can be booked with staff! Very recommendable!

staff was amazing! they let me chill by the pool before my room was ready since I arrived earlier, they suggested places to see around and shop, provided with a city map. amazing service! I even booked another room for my family to come stay there the following days

The breakfast was simple and good, fresh fruit every day. The room was also simple, but it was enough, we didn't have ocean view, but we still had a little balcony, which was nice. The pool was nice to cool down after hiking.

The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. The pool, the balcony and the views are great, and it's conveniently located next to a bus stop which connects to the city centre.

This accommodation was perfectly situated in the interior of Madeira and had so many incredible sights within minutes of it. We were at Pico De Arieiro in about 19 minutes, drove 10 minutes down the road for the best best dinner on Madeira at Abrigo do Poiso (the Ribeiro Frio restaurant on site was a very close second), walked 5 minutes down the road to the best levada walk on the island, walked 7 minutes down a trail next to the property to the Balcoe Overlook, stumbled on to an incredible area to camp just miles down the road at a stunning meadow filled with sheep and enjoyed the very comfortable bed inside the rental.

Die Zimmer sind geräumig, blitzsauber, es gibt auch gut ausgestattete Küche die Gäste mitbenutzen dürften, die übrigens so blank geputzt ist, dass die jeder Hausfrau neidisch wird😉 das Hotel liegt direkt auf der Straße, dennoch wunderbar ruhig denn zwischen 7 Uhr abends um 7 Uhr morgens fahren noch nicht mal fünf Autos vorbei, ich habe mein Aufenthalt sehr genossen und werde das Haus wärmstes weiterempfehlen

Beautiful location in the mountains. Stayed there while hiking Madeira from east to west. Spacious and immaculate clean room, big and comfortable bed, good shower, shared kitchen in perfect comdition, nice and clean shared lounge/living room, you check in at the restaurant right next to the rooms, the hosts are absolutely lovely, and I can recommend dinner and breakfast at their restaurant, they close at 7 actually, but some people arrived later and got dinner from the menu, too. So the hosts are an absolute delight.

Love this place. Everything was perfect. We were in the separate room with own entrance. At first we didn't like that it's without a mountain view but we always came back at night so this was really not a problem. There is a heating in the room! Bed is comfortable, bathroom clean. WiFi is strong, parking available for free. The kitchen is huge and equipped. The owner speaks English and is very nice person.

the property is new built in 2018. super clean, shared living room and kitchen. the restaurant next door (Faisca) has everything you need, super friendly staff, nothing was trouble, options for vegans too. to drive to and from the property you will have to climb and descend steep hills like everywhere else in madeira. 22min north, 22min south makes it good starting point for your daily activities. few levadas start straight from the village.

Fantastic hostel we unfortunately could only stay for one night. We arrived late at the airport but late self check-in was no problem at all. We had a private room with private bathroom on the first floor which was very quiet and had two comfortable beds. Bed linen and towels were nice and fresh. The breakfast at Jaca cafe was exceptional with fresh fruit juice, toast, cheese, jam, scrambled eggs, cake, granola joghurt with lovely roasted nuts and three different types of fresh fruit. Loved it 😻 Another plus: we needed somewhere to leave a bag during our multi day hike - Jaca hostel charges you 5 euros/day and keep your bag in their storage:) Unfortunately Jaca hostel in Porto da Cruz was fully booked - with any vacancies this would have been my option number 1. Thank you sooo much dear Jaca team ;)

One of the most welcoming and fun hostels I've stayed at. Thank you Hugo and all the staff. A great pleasure to be in your company and your beautiful welcome to Madera. I miss you already and look forward to returning one day. Hostel facilitated a beautiful social interaction between guests in the cafe next door. Great local food, juices, coffee, beer, clothes and art that made this a welcome home. Spotless clean rooms with towels supplied and wonderfully spacious shower space. Bed was more than comfortable with the softest white bed linen. Exceptional! If I ever owned a hostel, I would hope to come close to this level of excellence.

Highly recommend staying here. We stayed in a private room and it was beautiful, clean and spacious and also, very quiet at night so we slept peacefully! Great, central location on a quiet street. Also the breakfast was incredible. The best we had in Madeira and one of the best we've had anywhere!! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Madeira! The staff were super friendly and helpful too. Thanks Jaca Hostel team for taking such good care of us!

Nice location in the old center of Funchal, near the bus stop to/from Funchal airport (5-10 min walk) and with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Check in/out was very easy, access was controlled by a web app and was frictionless. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in had an en suite bathroom and airconditioning which was great. The bed was comfortable and had curtains for privacy. There's also a cafe for food/drinks.

A comfy hostel located extremely centrally, yet in a smaller street, so it's not too noisy. The staff were very welcoming (thanks for the welcome drink!) and the cafe downstairs is very cozy. In fact, it was the best breakfast I had anywhere, let alone a hostel! The bathroom was clean, large, and shower worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend.

Our second visit to the wonderful island of Madeira. The Pestana Royal Premium Ocean and Spa Resort, is situated to the west of Funchal within the vast area of modern hotel complexes. It's too far to walk into Funchal, which is not a problem as the hotel provides a courtesy bus into the city centre, which works well. The area around the hotel is a bit bland, but everything you need is provided within the hotel. The hotel is extremely clean, the public areas are spacious and there is a large buffet style restaurant. In addition to the buffet, there are three other restaurants where you need to make a reservation. We tried two and found them quite good. By the pool there is a snack bar. The best thing about the hotel by far is the staff who are excellent. We found them polite, helpful and very friendly. At the rear of the hotel a lift takes you down, where you can access a stony beach, a walkway heads east and via a short tunnel leads to the main promenade. We're not poolside sunbathers, preferring to explore the island instead. There always seemed to be plenty of sun beds available whenever we looked. Music seemed to be play quite a bit around the pool as well. This may not be to your taste. The room (a deluxe, which I think means 'standard') was a tad small but quite comfortable. A safe, kettle, mini-fridge and strong wifi signal was most welcome. We came to have a great holiday and this hotel certainly delivered for us

My stay at Pestana Royal was Fantastic. With the assistance of Fatima at the Front Desk and Her Staff, she provided me with an excellent room. My Fiance' slept very well and I was able to enjoy the views from our balcony. The meals at the Buffet and other restaurants were delicious. The Pool Bar & Grill was staffed by several excellent Young employees. I especially enjoyed the Hamburgers. Finally the Pools were well maintained and were crystal clear. The Recreation Staff also did an excellent job providing dancing lesson, water aerobics, mini golf and water polo. Thanks to all the Staff for providing an excellent Vacation. We’ve just returned from a fabulous 4 night stay at the Pestana Royal and we had a fantastic time.. from the minute we walked in the staff were welcoming and friendly.. The service and food quality in the restaurant was great, the buffet was clean, well stocked, plentiful food and lots of variety. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool area and pool bar were great, surrounded by gorgeous tropical gardens. We made use of the free shuttle to Funchal, great service.. would thoroughly recommend and will definitely return to Madeira to this or one of the other Pestana hotels.

Great resort for families - especially those with older (teenage) children. Between the mini golf, tennis, billiards, lawn chess, and the pools, the kids were kept busy. We loved the "activity team" that organized and ran all the events by the pool every day. Staff, especially bartenders, were really friendly and even fun. There was plenty to eat and drink all day, but not always a wide variety of food choices. We could only book each of the two specialty restaurants (Italian and Medeiran) once each. Surprisingly, there was no small on-site store for incidentals like sunscreen, toiletries, snacks, clothes, gifts, etc... Also, many popular drinks were moved to a "premium" membership and we couldnt even buy one from that menu on a special occasion without upgrading our entire stay! We had to leave the resort to buy those drinks, and so we did. Money the resort could have easily earned. All said and done, we all had a good time, but it wouldnt have taken much from the resort to make it so much better!

Hotel is very welcoming, staff friendly & clean throughout. Communal areas are dressed in marble and mahogany/walnut. Deluxe Rooms are very small, Superior are very large. I understand the Deluxe Rooms were originally 1 room which has now been split into 2. There is only 1 bar which is disappointing for such a large hotel. There is also a pool bar, but an additional cocktail bar on lobby level would be a great addition. Main restaurant food is good, service always excellent. As was the pool bar. Main bar service is generally slow. Only 1 of the 3 speciality restaurants is open at a time (& gets booked very quickly) and 1 was closed altogether. Overall I would give this a solid 4* and rate it 8/10.

Lovely hotel with stunning views from the cliff. Very friendly staff, great restaurant. Sea and pool access can be found at 5min walk from the hotel and entrance ticket is provided by hotel.

The staff was so kind and the property looks on the beautiful cliffs of Madeira. We loved being able to use the Galosol pool, this was definitely a highlight. There are many restaurants within walking distance and parking is very inexpensive and easy in front. Nice to be away from the city but still close to visit as needed, would recommend for a relaxing stay!

Amazing view we loved having breakfast watching the view. We got free tickets from the reception and used the next door hotel pool and access to the sea which was fabulous

It was a great/ excellent stay for the value. This place was something, quite, no noise, a terrace with a great view to breakfast or dinner...stunning view of the sunrise and sunset :) The personal is very helpful and pleasant from the very first moment when you arrive :) The lady from the reception told me about their neighbor pool in case that I want to swim, she told me about the local markets in this area, offered me a map and indicated some relevant places (shops, laundry in case you need it), bus station. They have a small fridge in the room which is great in case that you want to have a cold drink. In my case the breakfast was included in the price and it was enough for me. I felt lucky from the very first moment I enter this hotel. Internet connection was very good. Considering that I avoid luxury hotels and noisy places it was just perfect for me. If you rent a car you will definitely find a place to park your care in the area.

We stayed in the superior apartment which is on the 2nd floor of the building and can be accessed by stairs or a lift. The apartment was lovely, spacious and light. It looked down into a square where there were several cafes/bars. We didn't have to worry about any noise as the double glazing is excellent and once the windows are closed you really are unaware of what is going on outside. The location of the apartment is fantastic, right in the centre of the old part of Funchal with easy access to the cable cars, the port, and all parts of Funchal. Communication with the Heart of Funchal team was excellent, especially as this was a last minute booking. They organised a taxi pick up to and from the airport, sorted out a change of towels for us midweek and what was particularly great was the apartment was ready for us when we arrived at noon instead of 3pm. We had expected to just drop our bags off so it was even better that we could get settled in straight away, we felt as if we had an extra days holiday. We had read the bed was hard so that was a slight concern, it certainly felt hard when we sat on it but I have to say we never struggled to sleep whilst we were there. Couple of suggestions: have mugs instead of cups, put some handles on the wardrobes instead of the push openers as the doors are large and it can be a bit awkward to open them and have an airer so that towels have somewhere to dry. We intend to revisit Funchal and would definitly use this company again.

I almost didn't want to make this review because I want to keep this place hidden!!! The apartment is simply FANTASTIC. Anyone who has ever visited Madeira knows that the accommodations tend to be quite dark and humid. NOT THIS PLACE. This place felt like the sun was just hanging in the living room at all times. Noise was super manageable - remember, you are in the heart of Funchal - and even though during the day the light comes in from all angles, during the evening you can close the shutters entirely to get a cozy atmosphere with the indirect light from within the apartment. We were promptly welcomed by Filipa who reached out to us as soon as we landed and waited for us to arrive. No picking up keys from code-lock boxes. A real person to explain everything about the apartment and to help us in case we needed anything. Filipa also gave us great food recommendations which I have to pass along here! A Mercearia dos Avôs was the most pleasant surprise of all! Authentic Italian cuisine 3 minutes away from the apartment. DON'T BOOK HERE SO I CAN COME BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE 😂 But if you want to have the time of your life in Funchal, please do choose this place.

so happy with this apartment and the ladies (especially Susana!) who run this holiday apartment business. The apt itself is exactly like the photos, extremely spacious, clean functional, and the best of all its excellent location. We stayed in apt #6 and direct view onto the square and hills behind. The apartment is one block away from waterfront, there are restaurants literally outside the building and around every corner. It's lively yet not noisy. Susana made our stay even more special when she came to our rescue on a Saturday morning at short notice when we had a carpark situation. We very much appreciated it! we will definitely return to stay at this apartment again if we come back to Madeira. The restaurant Cantinho dos amigos downstairs is our favorite too on the island so twiice the reason to come back!

Clean place. Close to all the activities, places to eat (or drink), places to visit, shopping, etc. Be aware that there is no front desk and you need a key to get in the building. The property manager tried to communicate with us (many times) via Hotel.com prior to our arrival so that someone would be waiting for us, however Hotel.com did not deliver any of the communication. We ended up standing at the door without knowing what to do. Luckily, their neighbor contacted the property manager for us. We strongly recommend this apartment and contact the property via email prior to your arrival. Their email address can be obtained from Google search.

The apartment is beautifully furnished and looks like the advertised photos. We had a little problem finding it but the operating manager was sweet enough to find us outside the apartment and brought us to the complex. She was sweet enough to tell us about places to eat, and she even helped us show us where a pharmacy was when I got sick. They even arranged for a car to come pick us up for a very early flight to Lisbon, so the customer service was beyond what we expected! We would stay here again if ever on the island again!

Old style but comfortable tastefully furnished and with all mod cons. Great indoor pool on the rooftop, outdoor pool, gym, games room and spa. Spa is small but excellent service and first class massages. Food was top quality with individually cooked breakfasts. Beware the Goan specialities for dinner which do come up hot but are very tasty. Gardens and decor are excellent. Service from check in to departure was faultless, everyone smiled mae us feel welcome and part of the family. Free parking and a car is useful as you are not right in the centre of town. Great that the hotal has themes- such as Gin tasting, a welcome drink evening, barbecue evening etc. Really can't find fault- seamless arrival excellent assistance and support before we arrived booking dinner for the first night and spa treatments and everyhting at a reasonable price. The acid test- we have many other places we want to explore but already want to return to Madeira and would not want to stay anywhere else

Its a beautiful hotel our room was huge and very nicely decorated. The breakfast and dinner were of a very good standard and we attended a celebration of a saint whilst we where there and the event food and drinks were superb. The staff are fantastic, helpful and very friendly. I must note the stepping stones crossing the pool area are a nightmare and my wife suffered a fall which required hospital treatment. These must be addressed as a matter of urgency! we visited approaching five weeks ago and my wife is still struggling with the injuries sustained. Compounding this was no first aid kit of a suitable standard in reception the young man on reception didn't have a clue! Luckily another member of staff came to our aid with an assistant manager and they were fantastic!. Both pool areas need attention it lates the place down quite badly, saying that as I have said rest of the hotel first class, food great and staff brilliant.

Got to be the best hotel that either my wife or I have stayed in. The staff are fantastic. The pools are great. The masterchef night is a top experience. The pool menu is very good too. Great facilities. Good location with courtesy bus. No negatives to mention. We look forward to returning next year.

Really comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.Pleasant staff. Wish they would swap the pools over outdoor on the top floor to get more sun later in the season and indoor pool beside the spa but otherwise thoroughly enjoyable.

Had a great relaxing time here. The hotel has only about 35 rooms and many of the guests return year after year. Many of the staff have also been at the hotel for 16-plus years. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Everyone speaks excellent English. A big plus point is that the courtesy desk at the hotel is manned by Rosie, an English woman who has lived in Madeira for around 30 years. There is nothing about the island she doesn't know and will give you advice on just about anything. We were worried about the usual "towels on sunbeds" issue around the hotel's two pools but we needn't have worried. As the number of guests is always small because of the hotel's modest size there is always plenty of room and "reserving" a sunbed is not permitted. Anyway, the guests are far too polite to do something that anti-social. The hotel restaurant's evening a la carte menu works out at about £50 a couple for three courses, but wine is extra (and a little pricey!). To be honest, you would probably pay £50 a couple if you went to a decent pub restaurant in the UK. Breakfast (which came free with our package) was superb and more than enought to see you through to afternoon tea and a slice of cake! A 15-minute walk downhill into town, but a long haul back if you're tired at the end of the day. We came back by cab. Fortunately taxi fares in Portugal (and Madeira) are said to be the cheapest in Europe. About 6 euros for the cab ride back to the hotel. Drivers all speak English.
