Very friendly and helpful. Word of advice whilst it does cost slightly more for this family to arrange the transfer over the bridge, down to the port and the boat trip ahead. I regret saying no as it really wasn't that much more expensive than paying ourselves, we had a lot of stress getting through ourselves and the tuktuks at Laos customs overcharge but you can't negotiate as they just refuse to take you. Save yourself the hassle. Family also made us tea and toast even though breakfast not included.
It's basic but reasonably for the price.
