Swim-up Rooms & Private Pools in Japan

This hotel has a great location and a shuttle to Kyoto station. We normally walked to the station but when we arrived, it was pouring and when we left, it was nearly 95 degrees so we didn't want to walk. Staff were very friendly and the property was nice. There were areas in the room that showed some wear and tear but overall, we were very happy with our stay. Although the listing said that there were laundry facilities, this actually meant a laundry service, which was above our budget. We ended up finding a coin laundry in a nearby neighborhood which was wonderful and about $20.00 USD for us to clean and dry our clothes. In addition, the pool, although nice, was super expensive and cost is nearly $70.00 USD for our family of four. We did go to the pool once because our daughter really was excited about it. However, it was more than I had remembered seeing on the listing. (And maybe I didn't look at the right price).

I enjoyed this hotel, however, to use the pool or gym it costs 3,300 Yen each time to use. I found it sneaky that they did not disclose on the booking that the pool is not included.

loved the location, one can see the shinkansens and trains, I requested a quiet room but was given a room that was very close to the railways, it was loud when i opened the window but I like the sound and view of trains. I will return to the hotel, pool was very nice so was sauna. great view over the train station and shinkansen and trains - for someone that loves trains it is s must!!! bear in mind U may also hear them but for me it was a music :)

This hotel was perfect and every standard was well met 5 star and very much stands up to the 5 stars every inch was perfect from the greeting staff at the main door to the room it's self was out of this world truly was the best hotel I have ever stayed in would definitely recommend and will be coming back when am next in Kyoto And also the pool and sauna area was amazing

This was a very nice, upscale hotel very near to the Kyoto station. Excellent facilities and staff, however as an FYI the pool and fitness facilities are pay as you go and shouldn’t be listed as just amenities of the hotel on Expedia. Convenient location if you’re planning a lot of day excursions, otherwise a bit further from the best parts of Kyoto to eat and shop.

Every room has a lake facing. Can see the Michigan ship come to the dock in the morning. The hotel has a huge swimming pool.

The hotel is on the lake. Despite this, the area is not for recreation. We were given a room on a high floor and from the window you could see the beautiful view of the lake. The service was exceptional, wide beds and very comfortable mattresses. Cleaning and changing of towels every day. The breakfast was plentiful. The hotel has several restaurants: Chinese, Japanese, French and also a coffee bar with a large selection of cakes. The only disappointment is that this bar is only open until 6 pm.

We had a corner apartment on 21st floor and it was spacious with a magnificent view of the lake. The large windows allowed you to sit in the lounge room and watch the changing moods of the lake. We found plenty of restaurants not too far away and the large supermarket almost next door was perfect for top-ups. Strolling along the lake is very pleasant. We were lucky to be there for the Ōtsu festival, which was a highlight.

Great value. We probably visited during the off peak season as the entire area was quiet. The hotel is conveniently located by the lake with a supermarket just down the street and a shuttle bus which brings guests to and from Otsu station. Rioms were clean and we got upgraded to a bigger room which was good for our family. View from the room was great too!

We had such a great experience at the Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima! We were picked up by a shuttle at the train station and promptly taken to the hotel. We splurged on a club suite and I highly recommend it! We had private check in and did not have to wait in line. Our room was so spacious with a large bathroom and closet area off the suite. Our stay included breakfast each morning and the club package also included snacks and drinks from morning to night. The pool, fitness, and hot tubs were also included with the club package. The hotel was clean, spacious, and modern and had ferries right outside the door to Miyajima island. There was also a lovely promenade walking path around the hotel area to beaches.

We stayed 2 nights and this place was huge and reminded us of a Vegas hotel lobby with a giant water feature that was lit up. Check in was easy and she answered all our questions. They have a travel centre behind the front desk which we used to book a speed boat to Miyajima island. Highly recommend doing this! Thy have inspire convenience and gift shop and a bridal salon if you’d like to plan a wedding onsite. Beds were comfy and the showers had good pressure. We ate at one of restaurants and we had coffee on the upper floors to catch the view. Our room was a sea view room which really was lovely. I even walked to the back of the hotel to look at seashells that washed up and saw other kids doing the same. I asp shopped at the clothing stores as part of the complex as they have some unique items. Stay here- you won’t be disappointed.

We had a fantastic stay at the Grand Prince Hiroshima! From the moment we arrived, the shuttle service made everything seamless and convenient. Check-in was quick and easy, and we were immediately impressed by how clean and beautiful the hotel was. Our room offered lovely views of the water—truly a peaceful and scenic escape. One of the biggest highlights was the phenomenal ferry service directly from the hotel to nearby islands, including Miyajima. It made exploring the area incredibly easy and memorable. The top floor was the cherry on top—breakfast in the morning was delicious and relaxing, and in the evening we enjoyed drinks while taking in the panoramic views. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and scenic stay in Hiroshima!

A swimming pool like this in the middle of the city, particularly in the summer heat is amazing. The gardens are beautiful. The rooms (we stayed in one with a garden view, and it’s a spectacular view of the city too) are big by Japanese standards, beds are comfortable, shower and facilities are great - good water pressure etc… we had a really pleasurable stay. The 60s/70s styling is fun. The pool itself has old school starting blocks and a spring board, and even though to hotel has been refurbed with updated beds, carpets etc… there are still some cool shapes from a bygone era. It’s really fun. Also - check out time at mid day is really handy, it means you’re able to grab a morning dip in the pool to take the edge off the heat, then grab a shower before leaving

The hotel is in a great location. A few minutes walk to lots of shops and restaurants and Akasaka Mitsui metro station. The hotel garden is just beautiful and the swimming pool is perfect for relaxing in.. We had such a lovely time in the hotel. The breakfast buffet had a huge variety of food for all tastes, including Japanese and Western options. It is also great that the pool is open, for all, till 10pm so great to unwind after a busy day.

Central location & long experience in hospitality shows. We stayed at the Garden Tower. Amazingly efficient staff who know what you need. We needed to borrow adapters: no problem. Concierge helped with restaurant reservations, left luggage with Bell captain at the lobby of the garden tower & they had it delivered to the main hotel for us to take the limousine bus to the airport. A special mention to Konishi-san of housekeeping who didn't bat an eyelid when I asked to reheat some rice & sauce and brought it back beautifully laid on a room service trolley. With the small knife to cut my nukatsuke-nasu! Pool is great to cool off & great to see everyone having fun. Keep an eye on the opening times: I & several others were caught out on Monday late afternoon Loved the machine to squeeze out the swimsuit in the changing rooms. We will return

Our room was spacious and beautifully designed, and the garder and swimming pool area was lovely. Everything was so well organized. The hotel has plenty of elevators and attentive staff, making every moment smooth and enjoyable. The management is truly wonderful. A special shout-out to Manager Osamu Katayama, who made our stay even more magical. When we return to Tokyo, we will definitely choose your hotel again!

Overall very good experience and staff always polite and helpful. The drawback is the lack of outdoor spaces useable in Summer. Even the swimming pool is only open for 3.5 hours. Spending the entire day inside is unpleasant every day and greater use of the pool area is really essential

The hotel is like a resort. Pool, many restaurants, a small well appointed gym and an AMAZING staff. The garden is unbelievably large and beautiful.

Our room with a private pool was absolutely amazing. Front desk was very helpful. I can’t say enough about our stay one of the highlights of our trip.

Such a stunning and beautiful property. My check in was at 2, I arrived early and they let me use the pool early! It’s a bit of shame you have to pay to use the pool, the hotel is already expensive as is and that was the main reason I stayed here. The pool was amazing with amazing sunset views. American village was pretty cool, not very Japanese but still a neat area. I recommend walking about at night as that’s when all the lights come on and it’s very beautiful to look at. I wouldn’t spend more than one day here as there isn’t too much to do but it was still worth making the trip up.

A lovely resort! Lots of very attentive staff, check in was easy, our room was massive, two large beds very comfortable. Lovely spacious bathroom with a large bath. There is an airport bus which goes to the hotel along a route of other hotels, you can also take this bus back to the airport you can buy tickets from the hotel desk! The bus is the Okinawa Bus airport limousine AREA A. Breakfast has plenty of options both western and Japanese, we really enjoyed trying the Okinawa specialties at the breakfast buffet. There is an onsen/hot spring which is free to use. There is also a pool area on the top floor, although it is paid (¥2000 pp p/day), it was so lovely! Great places to sit and lounge for the day, nice and quiet. There is a bar / restaurant that opens at about 5 and you can drink and eat by the pool. Before then you can take your own food/drinks. We also has our luggage delivered here from our previous hotel and they received it no problem. We felt so relaxed after our stay here. Thank you!

I stayed about a week at this hotel and enjoyed the Cafe bar by the pool for the sunset views off the infinity pool. The staff at the spa were amazing and the public bath was always clean and stocked. The breakfast buffet puts American breakfast to shame and I highly recommend you try it out. Loved this hotel!

It was a nice hotel to stay and to let our honeymoon begin. the room is large, clean with nice design. Hotel staff will bring you into room and explain everything inside it which was very helpful. swimming pool not big but they separate adults pool and family pool. there is a small jacuzzi pool inside the infinite pool which i enjoyed so much. Hotel staffs were very nice and helpful. they helped us to manage to book some restaurant outside, also parking must be velet parking no extra charge is needed.

Amazing property! We had the Executive Beach Suite and it was roomy and cozy for the rain we experienced. The view of the beach was excellent. We used the clear kayaks to see the coral reef and all its magic. Only 2 small pieces of feedback. The in-room dining lunch menu didn’t have many option for vegetarians. They accommodated us by ordering off the dinner menu. There is a kids pool that no one uses, instead there are kids in the big beautiful pool making it hard to enjoy. Yes there is a small adults only pool but why have a kids pool if it’s not enforced in some way.

I have previously experienced phenomenal service in Japan, but was slightly underwhelmed by the inconsistency of service during this stay from such a high rated property. We found some of the hotel/spa staff that were very polite and accommodating, while others (like pool staff) were inflexible and slightly curt in their approach. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained, but the rigid hotel policies, lack of available dinner options, and over abundance of staff directing your every move made the experience less relaxing. Some examples include: no drink requests off-menu were allowed, QR “virtual wait in line” required for breakfast, several restaurants unavailable without reservation days in advance, slow/unprofessional waiter service in the steakhouse restaurant, kids not allowed in certain restaurants after 8pm, kids under 16 now allowed in 2 of the nicer pool areas (no opportunity to use hot tub), strict pool attire required, and many beach areas are off-limits. On the brighter side, the ocean activities were great- our guide Dan-san was very kind to our kids, and made our trip quite fun and memorable. The shareable/free beach toys were a nice touch. The spa is very clean and nice. Overall a good stay, but not the 5-Star experience you might be expecting. Next time will try the Ritz-Carlton next door, after renovations are finished.

If you come to Okinawa I would recommend staying at the Halekulani. The rooms were beautiful, new and spotlessly clean (I have a thing about bathrooms having to be perfect and this exceeded my expectations). The service and food options were great, although we did have to book ahead in advance. The outdoor pool and the activities on the beach were fabulous. Our kids made friends and went to kids club and loved it. We stayed 4 nights and we never had a dull moment. If I ever return to Okinawa, this is where I’ll stay again. Bit pricey but worth every penny. And surprisingly for Okinawa there were no signs of mosquitos around the pool, outdoor restaurants or the room balcony. Which is a great plus, as I am usually an all you can eat buffet for them.

Beautiful resort but like most it’s very far from other walkable dining and shopping. Would have really enjoyed this property if it wasn’t raining the days we were there. There not much to do if you can’t be outdoors, pool, beach, etc. there is an indoor pool which was nice but really we wanted to be outdoors. Drive to and from main areas outside of resort are about $80 each way.

Everything! Room was big and quiet and the pool was great. I could not detect any chlorine smell in the room and also the passing cars did not bother us at all.

We spent a night at N Hotel and it was an amazing experience! The moment you enter the hotel and take the elevator to the reception floor, you are greeted by the welcoming staff. After receiving free drinks from a vending machine, we made it to our room on the 5th floor. The photos of the room speak for themselves. The room looks beautiful, elegant, and spacious! The king-sized bed is a joy and the view from the window was great! Everything felt new and aesthetically pleasing in the room. The room comes with a number of tools, a tablet, which with you can order breakfast and different services. It also has a water dispenser, a big TV with a soundbar, different options for lighting, and a secret cabinet which opens from both the outside and inside, so the staff can serve your breakfast inside without entering the room. The bathroom is amazing with lots of amenities and the hot tub is fantastic.

It’s not as far as the Sanno station as some reviewers have written. Sanno station is one stop away from Nagoya or Kanayama station from which u can get to anywhere in Nagoya. Hotel room is huge, clean and the bed is very comfortable. There is also a hot/cold water dispenser/ microwave and even an air filter. Definitely value for money. There is a 7-11 nearby, 24 hour McDonald’s/ Japanese Gyudon and Dennys and a huge Sports Depot and Don Quoite. I strongly recommend this hotel for its size and location!

Best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It’s not expensive and the quality of everything is exceptional! Room is new and clean, they offer a lot of items for personal care and for the room, a variety of foods and the bathroom is also amazing, with a very large bathtub. Couldn’t be happier. I traveled with my husband and our baby and the room was very accommodating.

Wonderful hotel, big room, clean, room service was prompt. House keeping did a fantastic keeping the hotel clean. Sparkling clean toilet and bathroom with huge bathtub. Loves the toiletries provided. Appreciate the convenience of hot and cold water dispenser, microwave oven and fridge. Just a station away from Nagoya. Best hotel ever stayed in Japan in the same category. Highly recommended.

We arrived at Fusaki Resort Village on June 2018. We booked Deluxe Cottage for 4. Our room is a stand alone village. We had four beds lined up next to each other. It had a sitting area with table and chairs. It’s bathroom was standard sized and clean. The pool was located right behind our room which was a bonus to us. The pool had three levels and the water was really warm. There was also a kiddie pool playground with slides. The beach was right next to the pool. The ocean water was warm compared to that of Okinawa. The water wasn’t really clear, but we saw baby fish. The ocean floor was rocky with lots seaweed and uncomfortable to swim in. The dinners that the resort provided were very expensive. Breakfast was good. They had fruits, soba noodles, pastries, curry, and guava juice. It’s a beautiful resort with inviting pool and beach without breaking the bank.

The pool facilities for adults and children were excellent, there were plenty of beds around all of the pools and the grounds were incredibly clean and well-maintained. The splash pool is amazing and our kids loved it, they also enjoyed the inflatables and beach toys that were available from the beach equipment boot at the front of the hotel. The BOLD Kitchen was brilliant for breakfast and dinner, there was certainly something for all of the family. We loved the beach grill too. The rooms were lovely as were all of the public facilities. The staff was excellent, helpful, friendly and professional. The shop is good for gifts and drinks but is a little shy on food, so you might want to being a few things like popcorn and crackers with you if you have little kids as there isn't a combini nearby. The hotel is right on a private beach with has many sunbeds too and the sea is crystal clear and just a delight. The lifeguards are vigilant around the pool and the beach, whenever my 2 year old approached the water, they had their eyes on him straight away even though I was right behind him, excellent safety. I was asked to cover my small tattoo which is totally fair, so be prepared to cover up if you're in the pools.

The most beautiful and relaxing way to end our 15-day trip to Japan after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Kyoto. The resort was absolutely pristine, peaceful, and luxurious despite it being a predominately family-friendly resort w young children. We traveled with two children ourselves and the amenities were top-notch, including 3 pools, a water park and indoor pool w slide. The kids (and parents) enjoyed our water play time immensely as a family. The pool rules were a bit rigid for our standards and liking, but in the end they took safety very seriously. The only thing we didn’t care for was the BBQ Grill restaurant and it’s all you can eat gimmick; all the food came out all at once, it was overpriced and it wasn’t explained to us very well to know that we should’ve opted for the a la carte menu instead. That being said, it can be a little difficult and frustrating for those who speak English; there were a few things related to our food experience that was lost in translation and thus we overspent a couple times w/o realizing what we were actually ordering. Finally the amenities were great, including the incredible loungewear that was provided for each person in the rooms. In fact we’re trying to purchase some sets for the family! All in all, it was a great experience that we will remember fondly.

Beautiful hotel with Akagawara (Okinawa-style red roof tiles) lodging with a mix of modern pool areas. We were lucky to experience reopen pool areas with 3 big adults pool and water sliders for kids and adult. The breakfast here is also good, me and my husband always make Yaeyama soba (local noodle). We loved Umibudou (Sea grapes) and Yaeyama soba from one of the restaurant Yuntaku.

The resort is top style, and they offer so many activities, honestly the best families resort in BEACH WORLD Japan. There are so many pools, and one of them is an children's pools, with an whole playground complex in one of the pools. The rooms are great and very similar to Club Med.

Booked this based on reviews and were not disappointed. Arrived by hire car (acquired via info counter at airport) a little late, found out that they parked the car - just drive to main entrance & they will unloaded luggage and take your car to be parked up. Room spacious and clean - upgraded to include own small infinity pool. Most of the resort restaurants are pricey - but minibus available to ferry to and from. We tried the sushi place which good value at 4500¥ per head for medium set meal without drinks. Other nights we ate elsewhere before returning to resort. Minor problem at check out using European credit card - once they realised it was chip & PIN transaction completed. Buffet breakfast excellent with Asian & Western options. Would definitely return at some point when in Miyako. Recommended.

Stayed early November for 3 nights at an awesomely fancy and beautiful pool villa royal suite. Staff was the most helpful I've ever met (even after 10 years living in Japan!), many fun activities available, and the private golf cart provided with the villa allows to go to the beach and most of restaurants on the resort within 5 minutes, but also enjoy super fun ride by the ocean. Also important to note that the weather in Miyako in early November is really pleasant, around 24~29 degrees.

It was AMAZING! Loved this hotel so much! Like, they do these shuttle runs to drop us off at each local restaurant etc, and we had unfortunately missed the last bus... So, the restaurant rang up our hotel and they came and picked us up in the car... For FREE! How good is that?! And that is only the third time they've done that for us. The first two happened when we were at the beach and again we missed the last bus, so they drove us back in a golf caddy. Best hotel. Highly recommended. Great service and so helpful. We will definiely come back in the near future.

This is fourth time I've stayed at this hotel and it never fails to impress me. The staff are very friendly and courteous, the rooms are spacious and well-appointed, and the ocean views are spectacular. I recommend it without reservation.

The property, facilities, and staff were exceptional. We had a wonderful time during our stay here from start to finish. The staff made our anniversary getaway extra special.

We stayed here for one night after staying in their Sister hotel (Umine) and were very pleasantly surprised as it is so much nicer than Umine, both with the hotel itself and the staff. The spa bath in the room was part open air and had a good view over the valley. The shower area was a wooden floored area next to the bath so you could have a cool shower straight after being in the warm water of the bath. The room was large and the beds comfy. The staff who greeted us on arrival were warm and friendly and the welcome drink and cake were delicious. We didn’t eat in the hotel but tried a nearby local restaurant instead, which worked well. Although the staff spoke good English, none of the hotels information (online or in the room) was in English and the only other guests we interacted with were non Japanese so I think this is something to consider improving on. The gender separated Onsen had four baths (two indoor and two outdoor) but we preferred the one in the room. The hotel is located near to the Pools of Hell so can be quite busy in the day but is peaceful at night. The free shuttle to the train station is great as a taxi is JPY2,000. The bus station is a short walk to the bus stop which goes to both Yufuin and the Beppu Ropeway. Strongly recommend staying here for a high class experience and if it’s between here and Umine, definitely this is far superior in every way.

This was truly something special, from the spacious room with a large private onsen (in fact, two, one indoor and one outdoor) to the service, food and facilities, this was an experience everyone should have once in their lifetime. Before we even arrived, we were asked about our preferences and specifics so they can prepare the room, bathrobes, slippers, etc accordingly. The rooms were large, well equipped and tastefully yet traditionally designed. We had all our dinners there over 3 nights with teppanyaki, Kaiseki and shabu shabu being the perfect trio combo. Even the breakfast were not your typical buffet but beautifully presented Japanese or western depending on what you choose. The onsen was of course the highlight and the in room onsen could fit all 3adults and 3 kids easily. Didn’t try the large open onsen but I know there is a indoor swimming pool as well. The gym was adequate with a killer view over Beppu. Will definitely come back.

The Japanese breakfasts were fantastic in their quality, variety, presentation, and taste. The kaiseki and teppanyaki dinners were also excellent. Staff were extremely attentive and accommodating throughout our stay. Attention by staff felt personally tailored to our needs, for example when it became known that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we were presented with flowers and a gift, and a photograph of us was taken that was later framed and presented to us at check-out. Accommodations were spacious, clean, and attractive. Traditional clothing was provided and replaced with a fresh set daily. A private outdoor onsen area was part of our suite, and a wonderful place to relax. Small tattoos were allowed for use of the large onsen. The pool is huge and beautiful, with an exquisite view of the city and mountains. The grounds were beautiful. The location is right in the heart of the Hells and just a short walk away from five of them.

This is a top class hotel right in the heart of the hell pool area of Beppu. The rooms are really well equipped and ours had a great view of the mountain and city from the private hot spring bath. Meals (Japanese course and teppanyaki course) were excellent. We even had a private chef cooking our bacon and eggs on the teppanyaki griddle on the day we had a western breakfast. The staff were very friendly and keen to make our stay a pleasant one; this applies to the delightful Japanese staff members and also to the couple of really helpful European expats we met working there.

Our stay at Kannawaen was such a uniqe experience. We booked the room "Take", and it was so worth it having our own pool and other baths. Booked it with dinner and breakfast, and the dinner was one of the best we had on our trip to Japan. It was worth the splurge! Would come back again. We also got a present of two bottles of fine wine for free when we checked out. The hotel is also right beside the Beppu Hells.

We had the room with the private pool and it was exceptional. Great stay, great value for money

Last minute booking and booked a suite. Unbelievable! Large room and own private pool. This is how the other half lives! Restaurant only opened at breakfast but the man in charge of the breakfast was fantastic. We ate mostly Japanese so the food was great. Limited western food eggs and bacon/sausage menu and cereal for less adventurous.

Hotel Concerto Nagasaki is a lovely hotel with gracious staff. We stayed in a pool suite and it was gorgeous, well-equipped with amenities, and plenty of room for us and our two school aged children. As with many Japanese hotels, the beds are much harder than what most Americans are accustomed to and their pillows are buckwheat filled, which means it is much like sleeping on hard little pellets. We purchased a room rate which included breakfast each morning and if we were to return we would opt not to. Overall a wonderful stay and if we return to Nagasaki we will absolutely choose this hotel again.

So glad we gave this property another try. Our Christmas getaway was super amazing and the cleaning crew did a fantastic job. The only thing that would have made it better, was if the pool was heated. It was way to cold to get in but everything in their control was absolutely perfect. Already planning our next getaway.

Our second time here. I can say this is my family’s favorite place to stay. Of course the kids really enjoyed the pool. Will come back again next year before we leave Okinawa. I will miss this place so much!!

The house is neat and clean. Swimming pool is amazing. Got all the facilities you need to have a pleasant stay and even the kitchen comes with enough items to cook a proper meal. 10 out of 10.

It was a nice villa with swimming pool, however, you would need a car to reach this area and the closest Family Mart is 10 mins drive away. Perfect to family trip as kids love this villa.

The stay was very pleasant and relaxing. The pool was also nice to just swim and have fun. Very nice place to stay.

The cleanliness, the accommodating staff, the pool, the lobby with drinks, and the bath salt refill, breakfast at bon fire- i like how it’s not the same menu everyday.

Very big rooms, clean with amazing views of the sea. Friendly stuff, especially big thanks to Valentin. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and good Chinese restaurant on-site.

Free parking, nice pool but the open hours should be longer. Super spacious room, balcony with jacuzzi, extremely nice. Relaxing and free drink available at lobby.

We loved how calm and serene it all was! We relaxed by the pool a lot. Was perfect for our girls trip!

Amazing pool area, rooms were amazing and you have the best beach view from your Balcony.
