We liked everything. Quiet place, not far from Lucca, well equipped. Big garden. We came February 2023, in summer must be even better.

We loved everything about our stay here. The villa and property are perfectly maintained. We loved the spacious yard, the pool, our children enjoyed feeding the fish in the beautiful pond and the view is truly breathtaking! The villa has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Andrea is the kindest host we’ve ever experienced. He is friendly, welcoming, kind and helpful. The information book provided in the villa is excellent and we used it to explore and shop locally. Andrea even booked us a restaurant one night which was lovely. We only had a car for a couple of days so we used the local bus into Lucca a few times which was easy from the villa. It was so hard to leave this beautiful property. Thank you to Andrea and family for giving us the most perfect Tuscan experience. The memories we made over meal times with that stunning view will last a lifetime!

The villa was clean, comfortable and very well equipped, and the garden and pool were beautiful. It was set in a quiet cul de sac in the Tuscan hills and it was incredible to wake up each morning and be greeted with such idyllic surroundings. Andrea, the host, was wonderful - friendly, professional, knowledgeable about the local area and so welcoming. We had a wonderful holiday and I can highly recommend the villa to others.

This place was amazing and we will definitely be back. A warm welcome and everything you need is only the beginning of your journey in Villa Fenice. It should suffice telling that this house was designed and built by an American artist. Safe, beautiful and with great surroundings this house is strategically placed to visit the beautiful Tuscany. Greatly recommended.

The location was really great. I had a perfect stay and I totally fell in love with this place. Surrounded by greenery I was able to fully relax. Impeccable cleanliness and excellent host, I will definitely come back several times!

It was an amazing stay. The location is great, quiet with a fantastic view - but also close by the main roads with lots of access to do day trips. The house has everything you need, a very nice swimming pool, good beds, and also there are may terraces around the house to enjoy the weather at every time of the day. The hosts are very friendly and met us to hand over the key and also responded very fast over the phone when we had some questions.

We had the best vacation- the Villa is just so beautiful and Roberta and her team is there for you if you have any questions. Try it you will not regret it 😊 we will definitely come back.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Lena last week with a group of six people. The house is beautifully maintained, very clean, and extremely comfortable – it felt like a home away from home. The highlight for us was definitely the amazing pool, perfect for relaxing and cooling off after a day of exploring. The outdoor area is also fantastic – there’s a lovely garden with a barbecue area and even a wood-fired pizza oven. Our host Marco was incredibly kind and welcoming, always available and full of great local tips and restaurant recommendations that really made our stay even better. We highly recommend Villa Lena to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable vacation spot. We’d love to come back again!

Wonderful holiday in a beautiful place! A very convenient location for visiting the sights of Tuscany. The villa itself is well equipped, newly renovated. A wonderful outdoor barbecue area, a gorgeous pool and stunning mountain views. The owner of the villa, Marco, greeted us hospitably, explained everything, and helped us in everything. My best recommendations for this beautiful house. It is in a fantastic location with the most beautiful view that you can't get tired of. The house with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms has everything you need. Even though we were there in July when it was very hot, the house had a good temperature. We rented the house for a week, 2 adults and 4 teenagers, and we had the most wonderful week. We enjoyed the pool and didn't want to go home at all. The wifi was really good and could also be used when lying by the pool. We hope we can come again another time. We haven't finished exploring the area and enjoying the view. Jeroen was a really good and helpful host who I think you can ask about anything 🙂

There are many things to like about the place. Modern, fully equipped, beautiful pool, bedrooms are great.

This property was magical for us, from the stately opening of the starred iron gate to the magnificent grounds and winding drive. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here with our children and grandchildren. The high ceilings, casement windows, marble stairs, spacious rooms, and very modern and large baths and, of course, the pool all provided us the celebratory vacation of a life time. Most of all we valued the care and kindnesses of our hosts, Alessia and Barbara and their mother.

An excellent authentic Italian Villa at the foot of the Pisan mountains that had beautiful views and rural calm but which was also close to the outskirts of a small town/village. A good range of shops, restaurants and villages were within a short walk. The area offered something for all the family - good food, museums and historical sites, walks in the beautiful mountains and plenty of spaces to relax in, including two well maintained pools. We got around using local buses, trains and taxis, which were cheap and mostly reliable. Travel to Pisa and Florence was straightforward. The site manager, Lorenzo, was very friendly and met us on arrival and at our departure. He was helpful throughout the stay and responded promptly to queries via text messages. All in all, an excellent, relaxing experience.

Gorgeous Villa and the surroundings. Everything is very well maintained and clean. The pool area is clean and has very comfortable loungers, and the surrounding scenery is just dreamy. There is great barbeque setup. The room is clean and mattress was comfortable. Everything looked new and well taken care of. The town and market are less than 10 minutes by walk. Easy access from and to Pisa by bus 120. We were greeted by Lorenzo on our arrival and then he was always available to answer any questions we had. The apartment on the ground floor was cosy and it had everything we needed for a week long stay. There was welcome basket with wine left for us in the kitchen.

Beautiful surroundings, nice pool with shady and sunny parts too. Huge garden with a lot of different places to relax. The apartment was well equipped, you could feel that this building has a long history, you are sleeping in an old villa. Really enjoyed our time here!

The swimming pool was lovely, The Villa very spacious and comfortable, real Italian style. Just a short walk to local shops and a wonderful patisserie and market on certain mornings. Overall very pleasant

We had a magnificent stay at Villa Ester. The villa, the garden, the pool, the village, the local restaurants and the surroundings were the perfect match for our two families with teenage youths. Not to speak of Renatos magic Gården with fresh cucumber, tomatoes, basil etc.

Our family liked everything about this beautiful home. Inside the house was spotless, and the garden was beautifully maintained. It was such a treat to be able to pick fresh fruit and vegetables from L'orto del Renato.

The property is secluded and surrounded by nature, apart from the odd vehicle travelling past, all you can hear is the birds and trees in the wind. The views are amazing. There were only two of us but the property could accomodate many more, it is spacious and cool. Mauro was a helpful host and advised plenty of local facilities.

Set in a secluded, rural situation in the delightful Tuscan hills, Casa Patrizia makes a perfect location for a restful break near the charming town of Luca. Fully equipped to a high standard & with a well-maintained swimming pool, together with local produce this makes for an idyllic summer break. With good access by car to all the delights of Tuscany, the North West Mediterranean coast and the airport at Pisa, memorable holidaying is made easy.

The house is in a very calm area with hills and forests and the whole garden is fenced (sufficient to keep the dog inside the garden). We enjoyed being in the garden and at the pool- both were very well maintained. There was also a nice barbecue place and the kitchen was well equipped. Even though located outside, it is centrally located and you can reach many of Tuscany's great spots within little time.

We stayed for 3 nights at Villa Daniela in Camaiore and absolutely loved everything about it. The hostesses, Katia and Enrico, were incredibly kind and welcoming, helpful, and always available when we needed anything. and the views were truly breathtaking. One thing that really stood out: the villa is even more beautiful and spacious than it looks in the photos. You can't fully grasp from the pictures just how big the house is or how stunning the garden, pool area, sauna room, and outdoor views really are. A perfect place for a relaxing getaway — highly recommended!

Everything. The house was clean, spacious and comfortable with all amenities you could need. The indoor and outdoor space with the pool and many seating areas was fantastic and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the weather and the wonderful food and wine. Couldn’t have been happier.

We spent one week in this beautiful villa. The house is well equipped and offers plenty of space, although we spent most of our time outdoors. The pool area was truly the highlight, it’s fantastic! The pool is very large and up to 3m deep. Nice outdoor cooking area with pizza oven and BBQ. Beautiful views.

Excellent location high on the hillside with a stunning view. Watch out for all the hairpins though- glad we had an automatic car! Contact with Federica was great- she responded very promptly to any query and was eager to help. Wifi was not working when we were there but she did all she could to try and get it sorted. Nice big bedrooms on the first floor. Great pool and gardens.

Fantastic property. Very clean and well presented. Would definitely recommend. - garden was large with excellent views of the hills. Kept immaculate with short grass. Pool cleaned daily (v.early before we woke up). - plenty of places to sit in the sun or shade - kitchen and dining area inside well equipped - bedrooms were excellent as were both bathrooms - very private - good size bbq provided - host was very accommodating, gave an excellent tour and some recommendations of places to visit - supermarket a 5 minute drive away. Several small restaurants a 5-10 minute walk. - we had a one year old and a travel cot (a good one!) and high chair was provided As an aside - the property has solar panels and a large battery system so is very sustainably focussed. This is a big positive.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Lucca, such great value for money. My friends and I were staying to attend a wedding in the hills closeby. The villa was well stocked with what you needed, 2 gorgeous doubles rooms and a room with 4 singles was great for us as 4 of the group were couples. We were met by the owner on day one and given a thorough guide to the place. The Garden and pool were really big and plenty seats to sit and sunbathe etc. Would highly recommend.

This is the third time I have stayed in this hotel and what a gem it really is. Perfectly located within the walls - pretty much in the centre of everything. Rooms are clean / modern / upmarket functional. Nothing else needed as far as bedroom is concerned. Breakfast also excellent- simple food at its best Italian style. No swimming pools here but just a really good place to stay. Special thanks to some very helpful staff!

We spent a month at the Palazzo Dipinto over Christmas and New Year's Day. This was my first visit but my traveling companion had stayed before. The hotel is perfectly located, immaculately clean, the rooms are cozy, well appointed and the breakfast offerings are well presented, delicious and varied. But what made our stay so completely enjoyable was the friendly, efficient and professional staff. I've been so fortunate to be able to travel and stay at many hotels. The staff at the Palazzo Dipinto is without question the absolute best I've ever encountered! Not just one or two staff members, but every single staff member we met. We have been to Lucca many times over the years but this trip and our stay at the Dipinto was by far the best because of their lovely staff! We have already booked for December 2025! The hotel is very stylish, a design hotel and feels of a very high quality. To support this, the staff were all amazing through out the stay and were very helpful. We even got an upgrade on the room. Breakfast was very good with a very wide range of offerings, the bar area was lovely. Room spacious and very well designed, equipped and very nice to look at. A massive bed which was very comfortable. Location is just amazing to explore Lucca and everywhere is within walking distance. Just a brilliant hotel and there are the remains of a Roman domus in the basement. Ask nicely and they will let you see them.

Definitely they deserve five stars. Stayed at hotel Dipinto with my daughter for seventeen days as she was attending an Italian language course. The hotel is located in the city centre and has been renovated a few years ago with taste and elegance. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts are freshly prepared. All the staff are very friendly and efficient and the front door concierge will do anything to make sure you enjoy your stay with them. Nothing is a problem for them. And I would like to thank them for all the extra attention they gave to us. If I return to Lucca l will definitely stay at hotel Dipinto. PS If you traveling by car they also have a garage attached to the hotel.

I could go on for days about how much we loved this perfectly located boutique hotel. The staff gets it here! We were met at the front of the hotel by the staff to help grab our bags out of our rental car, and took our car to the conveniently located car park literally right across the street! The hotel is a perfect mix of antique charm, and modern comfort! We were blown away by the amazing breakfast spread and one morning after a day of exploring we wanted to sleep in a little and the staff put together a great tray to take up to the room. Whenever we needed out car we simply let them know, the lifted the gate and off we went. We loved this hotel and the people to run it and it will forever be our go to for Lucca which our new favorite Italian town. Grazie Mille per tutto! A presto!

Tucked away in a quiet alleyway in Luca, away from the hustle and bustle, is the most welcoming inn!!! Private parking way close to this little gem. Hotel Alla Corte degli Angeli is meticulously (and a bit eccentrically) decorated with period antiques throughout. The entire staff was more than friendly, helping us with directions, providing information about Lucca and giving us tips on interesting places to visit. In our 3 weeks of traveling Italy, this was by far the best breakfast with an amazing and abundant spread of healthy organic products (a fresh juicing bar!!!), homemade artisanal breads, cheeses and pastries, free range eggs snd so much more! We will most definitely be back and highly recommend this treasure to all who want to be pampered. BTW, to be able to relax at night in a hot jacuzzi soaking tub was as close to heaven as it gets-

You are staying right in the heart of the old town, making it so easy to explore on foot. We arrived in rental car, so having the private and secure parking lot just a 1/2 a block away was important to us. You do have to pay for parking. It was eighteen euros a night when we were there. The entire property exudes old world charm and a bit of city sophistication. Our room had some beautiful frescos on the wall and several sets of small windows that let lots of natural light in an overlooked towers in town. The attached wine bar had to super lively atmosphere in the evenings. Breakfast was served on a delightful set of mismatched china and add to the ambience!

We love this hotel and we were delighted to return in 2025. We recommended it to the brother and his wife. They loved it too. Attention to small details are very important and this hotel excels. Friendly service at the desk, stewed apple at breakfast, individually hand painted different bedrooms … the list goes on and on. Everyone staying there seems to be in good form, which is telling in itself. There’s a nice wine tasting bar on the premises for 2025 where €6 per ensures a beautiful glass of something local and splendid - and a short and knowledgeable explanation. We just love this hotel.

This is a quirky - in the best sense of that word! - and gorgeous hotel in a gorgeous town. Our room was very pretty, and the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Lucca (home of Puccini - make sure you go to at least one of the one-hour Puccini concerts that are offered every evening just minutes away from the hotel, with a different program each night!). But the outstanding feature is the breakfast - absolutely superb (you can even scrape your own honey from a honeycomb)! We found the staff to be very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

We stayed for 3 nights with two rooms. From the minute our taxi pulled up outside we were greeted by the staff who came outside to meet us and help with our bags. From the instant this set the tone as every member of staff was super friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. It’s a family run hotel and you can really feel this - it felt like being at home! Both rooms were ornately decorated which added to the charm of the hotel. Rooms were comfortable- literally the only thing I would change was the air conditioning as it was quite noisy and not always blowing cold air. We had drinks in the bar before bed every night and they were reasonably priced. It was never too much effort to be served drinks and staff consistently go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast was served rather than a buffet. It was served in china teapots and cups, the cheese platter was served on a tiered platter! Everything was homemade from the cakes to the pancakes - which our teenagers enjoyed! I have had this Italy trip booked for months and originally had another hotel booked for Lucca, but I saw this hotel online and changed it last minute and I’m so glad I did! It was a great value for money, so friendly and welcoming- nothing was too much trouble, staff were always smiling and it was in such a lovely location - quiet but every site was within 10 minute walk. I would definitely recommend and would return in a heart beat! Thank you so much for a lovely stay!

Fantastic staff. Lovely breakfast available at good hours. The air-con unit in our room was quite loud but incredible! Great shower. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Located just inside the walls of Lucca, but away from the busy areas so really quiet. Short walk away is a drinking fountain where we topped up our water bottles each day. Worth noting that you can hear everything those in the rooms around (next to/above) are doing (showering, hairdryer, going to the toilet....) so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs! After we checked in during the early evening, we rested for a while before going out for dinner. When we returned the front door was locked and the lights at reception were off. A member of staff then came over and let us in. Turns out we were meant to leave our key at reception when going out but we had no idea! So they thought everyone was in bed as no missing keys... Never had to do this before (but then again can't remember the last time I had an actual room key and not card) and we weren't told when we checked in or when we went out (although the person on reception when we went out was busy so perhaps they would have mentioned it if they saw us leave). No curfew, they just lock the front door and turn off the lights if everyone is in bed but there is a night porter around if you need help/want to go out. So make sure you leave your key at reception!

This small hotel is the perfect place to stay to experience Lucca, a real gem of Tuscany. The rooms are quiet and comfortable yet within a 5 minute walk to the center of activity. But the service really made our 4 day visit memorable. A minute after we arrived and realized that my wife’s purse had driven off with our taxi, Paulo was on the phone to the taxi company and within minutes was talking to the driver about when he could swing back by. He was also helpful with recommendations for sites to see and restaurants to experience. But we were in Lucca for a wedding to be held in the countryside. And when the day came and we couldn’t get a taxi (due to an exceedingly busy weekend, this was a problem throughout the city, even if you tried to reserve a day in advance), Gabriele moved heaven and earth to find an alternative and got us to our destination on time, in comfort, and stress free. It was far above what was expected.

One of the best places we have ever stayed in in Italy. Palazzo Alexander is a beautiful and very friendly place with attention to detail. You could feel that this hotel is family owned. From the moment we entered the door we were met by a both friendly and professional atmosphere. We felt so welcome and cared for all through our four nights stay. Our room was spacious and - very important as Lucca was going through a cold snap - properly insulated and heated; this can sometimes be an issue in hotels in Italy, but not here. The included breakfast was sumptious: Besides a well equipped buffet they brought us freshly cooked eggs and bacon, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee and a selection of local cold cuts straight from the kitchen to our table. One night as we were on our way out for dinner the rain was belting down and we didn't have an umbrella (forget it in Pisa); the friendly receptionist just lent us his - thank you!

This is a fabulous hotel just inside the city walls. The staff are all excellent; Alessandro was very helpful with some questions by e mail before we arrived. We had a spacious triple room which was a modern boutique style, very well appointed with views of the pretty canal. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with a full choice of pastries, hams, cheeses, bacon and scrambled eggs. The team servicing the buffet were very helpful. The hotel also offers a complimentary snack and soft drinks bar during the day, plus a happy hour between 5 and 7 pm with free self-serve bottled beers and Prosecco, plus savoury and sweet snacks. A real treat. Or, guests could make their own Aperol Spritz, for €6. The hotel is ideally situated - the main parts of the beautiful historical city are just a few minutes’ walk, and there are many fine well-priced restaurants, although it’s useful to reserve a table the day before. The city’s ancient walls are incredible and the hotel has bikes, free for guests, to enjoy a scenic ride. Lucca railway station is a short flat walk from the hotel, with convenient services to destinations including Pisa, Viareggio and, further afield, Florence. In total, a wonderful week away, would highly recommend Lucca and Hotel Ilaria.

We stayed at Hotel Ilaria because of a wedding we were attending nearby. The hotel and staff far exceeded our expectations! We were so impressed with the level of service we received throughout our stay. On our first night, I mentioned that the bed was a little too firm for me, and Alessandro made sure that a foam mattress topper was placed on the bed before we returned from dinner. Breakfast on the terrace was a delight with our coffee and cappuccino being attentively made and refilled. In the afternoon, there were always delicious treats with Aperol spritz and coffee. The hotel arranged to have a wonderful driver named Paulo pick us up and and bring us to the airport. So many thoughtful touches during our stay that made this hotel really stand out as special! Of course, Lucca is a gem as well and so fun to explore. We hope to return to Lucca again and of course stay at the amazing Hotel Ilaria!

Hotel Ilaria is a lovely hotel in the cute town of Lucca. It is quiet, clean and comfortable with a perfect location for exploring the town. Breakfast was delicious with lots of healthy options in addition to typical Italian pastries. The evening complimentary happy hour was wonderful. I met some lovely fellow travelers and had a great time. The best part of the hotel is the staff. The young man at the front desk was extremely kind and welcoming. He helped me purchase tickets to an evening of opera as part of the Puccini festival. It was wonderful. This one staff member (apologies that I didn’t write down his name) made my stay extra special with his kindness. And he looked great in the green hotel uniform suit (as did the young woman too). Thank you for making me feel that hotel Ilaria in Lucca was my home away from home.

Location was excellent. They feed you free food and drinks from around noon till 7 pm. We got a free upgrade to a two story suite in their annex! We didn't even ask for it. Staff is courteous and tourist friendly. There is a small self service laundry about about 7 minutes away. Good restaurants are about 2 minutes away. Probably want a bus or taxi from train station. We took city bus back to train station. Once we arrived my wife realized she left a backpack behind. We didn't have enough time to bus back to hotel. I called them and they sent an employee who found the bag. They sent it by taxi to the train station for us just in time! I think they deserve the high ratings and feedback. Even without the room upgrade I would still give them a 10!

First I must give kudos to the staff. Everyone I came in contact with was highly professional and always helpful. I must single out Paula at the reception. She went above and beyond to help me solve what felt like a very difficult problem. Instead she simply solved the problem in an efficient, helpful way. She never made me feel like I was asking too much or treated me like she was doing me a huge favor. The location was exactly what I wanted. Away from the most heavily trafficked streets yet just steps to where you want to be. I stayed in the main section of the hotel that was redone last year making it feel brand new while keeping the charm. I couldn’t more highly recommend the Hotel Ilaria. I fully intend to book there again next time I am in Lucca.

We stayed here a few years ago and were not disappointed with our second stay. Beautiful grounds and property. The room size and facilities are excellent. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Pool area relaxing and there are plenty of places for everyone to lounge by the pool. Breakfast delicious We ate at their sister hotel which I would also recommend. Nearby restaurant within walking distance and excellent(take a torch).

This is a hotel to hide out, to get away from the stresses of big city life. Relax by the pool and feel a union with the other guests staying at the hotel, while maintaining a luxurious distance. The grounds are immaculately kept and the pool is wonderfully refreshing. I was able to unwind and enjoy life.

The gardens are beautiful and pool area is well maintained and lots of shade available. Pool service and cocktails are brilliant. Nice outdoor dining area. Excellent restaurant.

The villa looks amazing as you enter the grounds. The staff we met were excellent and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was a gorgeous venue, the staff were great and the food was very good. We were very disappointed with our room which felt damp and looked more shabby than chic! It was in need of a make over to ensure we experienced a bit of luxury during our stay there. We definitely didn’t feel that at all. The pool area was poor, the grass around the pool area was a haven for mosquitos who very much let us know they were present!!!!

The food was fantastic. The grounds were very well kept, the pool and pool area was super. The staff generally were very helpful and friendly, especially the restaurant staff and a special shout out to Roberto who went above and beyond for us. Bikes and Vespas being available to hire were a nice addition. I would return in a heartbeat and the 'don't likes' certainly don't outweigh the lovely time we had staying here. :)

We really recommend this place and host. Location was perfect for our needs, as we were arriving and leaving by train. At breakfast you have the choice to have a real capuccino if you prefer, and what was offered was enough, we do not eat big breakfasts anyway. The room was simple but clean, bed comfortable, there were two nice warm blankets in the wardrobe to use, which we did, but the option to have the heating on is there for you, if you wish. We slept very well and we didn't hear any noise at night, neither from the hotel or from outside. There is no lift in this little hotel, but this wasn't a problem for us. They recommended a place to buy wine where we ended up having lunch too, place that is a little gem and was a great recommendation!. We went back to pick up the luggage from reception before the train. We enjoyed our stay, and we hope to visit again soon.

Excellent location outside the walls of Lucca and behind the train station. Easy to to walk into the walled city. HINT: to reach hotel, exit the REAR of the station using the steps or the ramp. Turn right onto the red bicycle and pedestrian track. The street you are on is via Lorenzo Nottolini. It curves to the right, so stay on it for about about 200 meters..The cross and turn right onto via Vincenzo Civitali. I discourage exiting via the front of the station because you will have to carry your luggage up the overpass that crosses over the railroad tracks. The overpass is circled in blue on the photo. Nice room, good AC and TV. Simple breakfast: yogurt, small sandwiches of meat and cheese, fruit, juices, pastries, bread. STEFANO makes the best espresso!

Everything about this hotel is homey and welcoming. The owners are a young couple and they are delightful. The communication during the booking process was efficient and caring. The hotel is sparkling clean and extra precautions have been taken for covid. Everything in the room and common areas was disinfected and spotless. The location is also convenient, walking distance to the train station and just outside the city walls. The building is an old converted villa. The rooms were very comfortable, with extra pillows and blankets (all sanitized and individually wrapped). The breakfast was also enjoyable. We highly recommend this hotel and will certainly come back the next time we come to visit Lucca.

The perfect, private stay in Lucca. Less than a five minute walk to the train station and old town on a very quiet and safe street. Staff were so friendly and treated you like family. I honestly don't know why this property is only two stars it was clean, comfortable, well maintained, spacious, everything you could want at a very reasonable price...it should be at least a three star property. Loved my time here and would definitely come back.
