Staff was very welcoming and friendly. We had a casita with our own private plunge pool, it was awesome. Very clean, food at the restaurant was very good. The only downside would be the drive there. We had to cross a river without a bridge! Andre at the concierge was super friendly, as well as all the waiters and bar staff.

Fantastic place! The staff is simply incredible!!! From the concierge to service at the restaurant wonderful - 5 days was too short!!!! We got upgraded to a villa (we had booked 2 rooms) with a private pool! There is a shuttle to take you aroundl the site is simply wonderful! A true 5 star hotel!!!!!

Hotel Punta Islita is gorgeous! It took us just over 2 hours to get to the hotel from Liberia airport. The driver was very accommodating, stopping for us to use a bathroom and shop for a few snacks and things to have in our room. The driver also stopped to point out monkeys, a crocodile and birds along the way. Even though Punta Islita is out of the way and secluded, the site is incredibly beautiful and well worth the 2 hour drive. Service was fantastic and the food was terrific. The resort was completely full during our stay and yet we never felt the hotel was crowded. The entire staff seemed eager to make personal connections with each of us which made our stay extra special. The deluxe room was a bit tight for our family of three, but doable. The beds were very comfortable. The room was kept very clean and housekeeping paid attention to details. My cousin's family of four stayed in a villa with a plunge pool and full kitchen which was more than enough space for them. The stairs leading to and from most rooms in the resort would be a challenge for those with any physical issues. However, there are shuttles that will take you just about anywhere you'd like to go. The beach was amazing!!! Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet because of some rocks and the scorching hot sand on the way to the water. The waves were perfect; the water was crystal clear and refreshing. We hated to leave! We will definitely return to this hotel!

This was one of the finest hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The staff were amazing - service A+, the views so breathtaking we did not want to leave after 4 luxurious, relaxing days in a beautiful villa with incredible views, superb activities (we witnessed a sea turtle laying its eggs on a storm on a remote beach one evening, macaw wildlife reserve, kayaking down Ora River to the ocean.. ) . The restaurant food was first rate and the prices were exceptionally reasonable considering the remoteness of the resort. We would return in an instant. A must for the bucket list. We even had a band of howler monkeys visit our villa backyard one evening as we swam in our own lap pool.. the hotel pool (next to the restaurant - has to be seen to be believed... the views.... GO GO GO ...

This is a great hotel for family and couples. There is a gorgeous adults only pool, as well as a family friendly pool by the beach. Gorgeous location and views. The two restaurants are very good, but there is only one other option in the nearby town, unless you want to drive a very far distance. Also, all activities need to be planned through the hotel, because of its remote location. But, if you are looking to relax on a gorgeous beach and take in the views - or, are willing to venture out on your own for a distance- this is the perfect place.

The Villas feature lovely gardens and well-kept surroundings. A/C offered only in Primary bedroom. Our villa had lenty of fans, a clean pool, and many amenities throughout. Staff on site were courteous and helpful. Neighbors were also very nice and friendly. On the other hand, the property was difficult for us to find and the roads leading to the property were not yet paved; thus, a 4x4 would be highly recommended. I would stay at Villas Argan again without reservation.

Everything you need is nearby. Most pristine beach, a little grocery store with so much to offer, we cooked most of our meals there and the kitchen had enough supplies to make our food. Gorgeous villa, we felt very spoiled! The gentleman/security guard was very nice. Staff answered all our questions, I had many lol! Will definitely return!

Nice and relaxing getaway from the crowds of Santa Teresa but still close enough.

The house we stayed in has beautiful woodwork and was spacious but also a bit treacherous with a stairway with no handrail and a step up part way into the living area. The beach is lovely and it was not touristy when we there (during heavy rainfall). Howler monkeys entertained us frequently. The maid did a very good job. Like many Costa Rican properties the road in was quite bad. The kitchen had few of what I consider essentials so cooking was challenging but not impossible. The shower pressure was less than satisfactory but the water was hot. We would stay there again but hope to find a better equipped kitchen and ample water pressure.

Clean, modern, airy and light design with amazing views. Fabulous place to relax and enjoy the ocean views and breezes. Plunge pool and outdoor shower are amazing.

Amazing Ocean View, private pool, outdoor kitchen, good standard The hostes Alexia was great, helped us book all activites and ATV and was very helpful during the entire stay of 2 weeks with making our stay as good as possible We also warmly recommend the surf lessons with Bernal, the best! Hi is very encouraging and know what is needed to help you evolve to the next level, also always chill, do not stress, very service minded. We did also go with Bernal on boat tour, great fishing, so much fun, beautiful dolphins

We had a great stay at Akwa! Alexia and Eduardo were welcoming, kind and responsive. The villa was luxurious, with minimalist design, a full sliding door that transformed the space into shared indoor/outdoor space. The private plunge pool is a game changer! The driveway into the development is very steep, but this is typical of many accommodations in Santa Teresa. You can walk to the beach and back, just prepare yourself for a short but challenging climb back up!

This was an amazing boutique hotel located in Santa Teresa. The staff were phenomenal and super helpful. The room was spacious and super clean, with an extremely comfy bed, and very eco friendly! The pool was fantastic, and even though it was shared it really felt like a private pool as most rooms had their own. The view from the pool was amazing as well! The breakfast every morning was great. The hotel is up a very steep hill, so I would be prepared to do a hike uphill if you don’t have a vehicle. The hotel as well is a short walk to many bars and restaurants, including some great beach front spots! Overall would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santa Teresa!

This hotel is really a gem in Santa Teresa. We stayed there for an additional night and it was the best decision we made if this wouldn’t have been our last stop on this trip we might as well have never left. We stayed in the Bardot Lodge which has a private pool with a spacious terrace and a small outdoorkitchen. The view is just breathtaking, imagine waking up with the view of the ocean right in front of your bed. We had a huge shower, seperate toilet and everything we could or couldn’t imagine beforehand. Didn’t try the breaktfast unfortunately as we bought fruits and granola at the supermarket to spend as much time as possible in our private paradise. Yes the street going up the hill is steep but you can’t have that view and be so near to the ocean at the same time if its not a steep climb. With the car if takes one minute to go up and we also walked it which is also fine. (Just one straight climb no need for a 4WD (we had one but didn’t use the option to go up there) Also Alexia is really a gem welcoming you and you feel home immediately. We‘ll definitely come back.

After staying around the lively Santa Teresa near Playa Carmen, arriving at Blue Surf Sanctuary was like landing at an oasis. Leah, our delightful host, made sure our stay was nothing short of amazing. She was not only super fun and helpful but had a smile that could light up the whole place! From fresh coconuts to watermelon and passion fruit, Leah ensured we tasted every bit of the fresh goodness Costa Rica had to offer. Our room was huge, and they even set up a crib for our little 7-month-old adventurer. We spent lazy afternoons lounging in hammocks, chatting away while overlooking the inviting pool. Speaking of the pool, it was a much-needed refresher after our beach escapades. Don't get me wrong, the beach (which was literally footsteps away) was a blast, but nothing beats a splash in the pool to cool off in the afternoon! One of the best parts? It felt like we had the entire place to ourselves most of the time. And can we talk about that outdoor kitchen? Totally Instagram-worthy and perfect for whipping up delicious meals with all the local ingredients. Although we couldn't resist the temptation of the nearby restaurants (seriously, so many great options!). We'd book this place again in a heartbeat. what an incredible place! I traveled to Costa Rica with my family (myself, my partner, and our 4.5 year old son) and two other families who also have young children. We had the most amazing stay we had at Blue Surf Sanctuary! Just a 1 min walk from the most glorious beach and minutes from the adorable town of Santa Theresa - which is teeming with amazing restaurants, cafe's, shops etc. - Blue Surf truly has everything you need! The accommodations are comfortable and beautiful and you can see all of the upgrades that are being poured into the place. We loved making a quick breakfast in the al fresco kitchen each morning followed by a trip down to the beach to pick seashells. Following a morning adventure - we did everything from horseback riding to ATV adventuring to shopping - it was back to blue surf for lunch and a break from the heat of the midday sun with either a dip in the pool or a break in our lovely air-conditioned rooms. More adventuring or beach time/pool time followed in the late afternoon and then dinner out at one of Santa Theresa's wonderful restaurants - NAMI was a fave for sure. No stay at Blue Surf is complete without a surfing experience with their instructor, Toro. It was my very first time surfing and Toro was so easy to learn from - his patience and passion are unmatched! We are already talking about returning this winter. An amazing experience to enjoy with those you love.

I was in Santa Teresa for a week in October 2023 with my girlfriend and we stayed at Blue Surf. The accommodation offers four spacious and modern bungalows, perfect for a great getaway. Especially the pool and the cool outdoor kitchen are highlights of this accommodation. The hotel is located almost on the edge of Santa Teresa yet there are some good restaurants and cafes (Nami, El Patio, El Facon, Eat Street, ...) and a super market within walking distance or quickly accessible by car. The beach can be reached in 2 minutes from the accommodation. From my point of view you are then directly on the more beautiful beach part of Santa Teresa. During this week we had a total of 4 surf sessions with Toro, the surf instructor from Blue Surf. It was pure fun! I already had a little experience from European surf schools, my girlfriend none at all. Toro has managed with his fanstastic nature as a person and coach, that we could make progress from session to session and had tremendous fun. The supervision in the smaller group, as well as different and more pragmatic advice than you are used to from other surf schools, contribute to the success. Result: I was able to solidify the basics, catch white water waves on my own and was even able to try out a smaller board on the last day. My girlfriend is also now on fire and looking forward to the next surf vacation. The surf lessons are definitely worth the money - you will not regret it.

We moved from another accommodation to Blue Surf Sanctuary after deciding that we wanted to spend out last week somewhere nicer! This place did not disappoint. Its in a perfect location, and even though its located near the road, I found since its on the north end of the strip, it wasn't too bad and wasn't bothered by any traffic. The room was super spacious, we had the family room, so for just myself and my partner, it was more than enough and utilised the bunk bed for luggage etc. We loved the balcony with the hanging chairs. It was such a relaxed and chill vibe. The location near the beach was also perfect, really just a minute away, Can't beat it. The facilities were great, beautiful and large kitchen with a dining area. The pool area was also really lovely. Our host was also very accommodating, and if there was anything we needed, he was sure to help arrange it. Would love to come back and stay again!

Really loved this place! Very clean, comfortable and very close walk to the beach. the property is gated in with a code so that’s also great. it is close to the main road so convenient to go places but there can be traffic noise. I’m from the city so that didn’t bother me. A/C worked great and good Wifi. plenty hot water and shower pressure. The pool was great. Very cute place and Rafa the property manager is also great makes it easy to check in and out. He also has great communication and can help you with ATV’s or anything you may want while there.

The breakfast was just ok -- the food was very "clean" but it was a bit too out of the ordinary for me... I like a traditional English Breakfast and that wasn't available.

Casa Caletas is the ultimate escape to paradise. It is remote, tranquil, and totally pura vida. It's worth the drive and adventure to experience a private tropical beachfront paradise away from the hustle of touristy Costa Rica. Enjoy the breakfast, search for sanddollars on the private long stretch of beach, enjoy the spectacular infinity pool, and enjoy the quality customer service from local Ticos! Great food, great adventure.

Our room was lovely and you must see the location of Casa Caletas ! You will enjoy your own beach resort and the view is amazing. Sunset is lovely and the infinity pool is relaxing and cool. The staff is wonderful and we rated our stay at this hotel with an A You will be pleased you stayed here.

This place was breathtaking. The landscaping, the views, the food, the service and the incredible infinity pool on a cliff made it unforgettable. The staff was super helpful. It is secluded so its good to have your own transportation, but the ATV adventures are another story. LOVE this place!

Stay here! This place was worth the stop. Very nice rooms, great staff, really fun kayak tour up the river. The pool is great! Highly recommend heading here!

This hotel is a great place to go and rest, there is nothing around, just the beach and a river that goes to the ocean, great view. If you are going, make sure you use the ferry that goes to Naranjo, if you take the one of Tambor you are gonna have to drive like 3 hours... From the ferry (Naranjo) to the hotel is like 60 km drive, 50% is good street the other 50% is really bad but you can make it in a single car. If you want to go to Santa Teresa is an 1 hour drive, really bad street, you have to cross two rivers and drive over the beach, literally, for this you must go on big car (4x4). Food is really good, I really like the experience...

Cristal Azul is a small paradise in Playa San Miguel. Getting there is difficult the first time, but all worth it.

Cristal Azul is the perfect place to vacation if you are looking for a remote location away from the commercialized areas in Costa Rica. The setting is truly stunning. The accommodations are very comfortable. The staff and owners are great. The area gives you many unique opportunities to enjoy wildlife, the beauty of the forrested, waterfall filled mountains, and the serenity of having the beaches to yourself. Unique in the best sense of the word is the way we would describe Cristal Azul. The view of the ocean from the cabinas is stunning. We were blessed to be there for the week.

Loved our room, garden and dipping pool. Just a short walk down the road to excellent surf and a great little restaurant to enjoy the sunsets. We had our room serviced once and Katie did an excellent job. Very happy with our stay here!

My recent stay at Casa Cecilia in Santa Teresa was nothing short of exceptional, and much of that is due to the incredible hospitality of Anabel. From the moment I arrived, Anabel made me feel like I was right at home. Her warm and welcoming demeanor set the tone for what would be an unforgettable experience. Anabel's attention to detail is unmatched. She went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was perfect. The property was so beautiful, it was a slice of heaven. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and loved every minute. It was located on the end of town but we loved that since it was such a busy area, Casa Cecelia was quiet and peaceful. While the property was on the outside of town there was a Super (convenience store with liquor, groceries and other convenience items) a short walk away. There were also a couple very good restaurants within walking distance that we visited more than once. Rocomar was right on the beach with so much seating and the best view you could ask for of the sunset and Nectar was fancy and expensive but had huge portions and the food was incredible. Breakfast at the resort had several options and was always delicious. Anabel, the manager was lovely and so helpful. She helped us organize a lovely excursion. We didn't get to see any, but we were told turtles come right up on the beach and nest. We got up early trying to see them nesting or hatching. It was exciting even though we didn't see any ourselves. beach was stunning, lots of shade, lots of chairs

Our stay could not have been better. The room was comfortable and quiet. The setting of this hotel could not have been more beautiful. It was difficult to leave my ocean front beach chair to so anything more than watch surfers and read my book. I was there to celebrate my birthday and Anabel left me a sweet birthday gift as a surprise. She also helped for my partner to arrange a surfing lesson. We will most certainly return to this wonderful gem of a hotel.

One of the best vacations we have had. Casa Cecilia is a super laid back guesthouse right at the beach little further away from the center so it is both busy and super chill. The rooms were really cosy and spacious. You have everything around supermarket, restaurants, surf rentals etc. Staff was really nice, Anabel helped us with anything we needed. Ghere was also some wildlife around iguanas, monkeys which we loved.

The pool area was gorgeous and lush. The landscaper took such care of the gardens. It was a very quiet stay and no music by the pool. There is a small section of the pool that’s shallow for lounging which is comfortable if you don’t want to actually swim. Breakfast was offered early at 7.

This is a great place. It's private and quiet (apart from the monkeys and tropical birds, no complaints) despite being close to the main street. There are fewer than 10 units, so it was always calm and quiet inside and we usually had the pool to ourselves. The property is gorgeous and lush, the pool is great, the rooms are large, clean and comfortable, breakfast was great, and the staff are absolutely fantastic, very helpful and friendly.

Our house was right by the pool, with a nice view and very comfortable. The whole complex is very well located, nicely secluded and secure. The pool is nice, also suitable for a short swim.

We liked everything about this property. We were lucky enough to check into a poolside studio room. Air con excellent, room a great size, bathroom a great size and plenty of light. Perfect. Annabelle from Argentina made us feel very welcome and was a pleasure to deal with. The yoga deck is a fab space also and Carlota the teacher from Madrid was really good.

Perfect stay. Spacious, clean rooms with comfortable beds and good shower. The swimming pool area was so lovely and calm. The bird- and monkeysounds make it even better. Staff is very nice and everything is well aranged. Breakfast is yummy (you get to choose from a menu). The location is perfect (quiet yet central) and the on-site yoga lessons are a plus.

Very nice stay. The rooms were comfortable and attractive. We enjoyed having a balcony and overlooking the pool. The pool itself was beautiful and clean. Breakfast was adequate, but not stellar - just quite basic, a few more options and better coffee would go a long way. We did have one service issue, which I thought was pretty slow in being addressed, but it was resolved to our satisfaction. Overall we enjoyed our stay and found this to be a good value and good location. I would stay here again.

Make sure you print out your online booking. The girl at the desk had no record despite email correspondence. The villa we stayed in had a full kitchen, large bed, air conditioning, porch and hammock. The beach is across the street and down a short path. There is a surf shop across the street for convenient rental.. $10/day. My only complaints were the ants in the room (excusable seeing as how it is the jungle) and the pounding of the all night disco across the street. This didn't seem to bother my girlfriend but I lost some sleep. Otherwise, I would highly recommend Escencia. It was our nicest stay in Costa Rica!! Also, there are monkeys around! We spotted one in the palm above our villa. You will hear the howlers in the morning and see them in the trees from the pool area.

This place was far above what we expected for the price that was charged. The pictures we saw online before going did not make it justice. Don't expect luxury, but the room was clean and pretty new - much better than many similar places I've been to. The pool area is very nice and we even saw plenty of monkies and lizards around the house, very cool. The beach is just across the street, and as there are no accomodations on the beach here, it doesn't get much better. The only downside was that it was a bit too far from the grocery store to walk, due to the dusty road in Santa Teresa. If I go back to the area, I will definately stay here again!

We had a fabulous time here. My family and I stayed in a villa. Surf breaks right across the street! Hotel staff was great! Marta made our trip there really awesome, she was so sweet and it was nice to have friendly faces working. The pool was kept clean and my 2yr old loved it because there was a kiddie part, only a couple feet deep. A super bonus that I didnt realize we would need, since this was the first place we stayed, was a clothes line so you can easily hang your clothes out to dry like swim suits and rash guards... Anyways we super enjoyed our stay at escencia. We'll be back and invite others!

We are a family of 3, and stayed 5 nights. We found the staff were great - very helpful and hard working. They stayed out of your way, and did not try to sell you things. We did book a number of items through them (tours, transport, ATV)... and they were on the ball. We had to cancel one of our tours mid-way because my little one got sick, and they reimbursed me - which was unexpected. We loved the pool, the close access to the beach (5 min walk with a kid)... if you like partying... there’s a lot of night life close by. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! Thanks hotel Esencia!

We thought this hotel was a great pick and would highly recommend it to others staying in Santa Teresa. We had our own pool side Villa, with a hammock on the porch. The room was really nice and a good size, plenty of room for us to spread out in. The pool was really nice, and provided some respite from being in the sun all day on the beach. We never got round to eating at the hotel (we never actually worked our where the restaurant was?) But nearly everything is walkable from the hotel and there are loads of fantastic places to eat in Santa Teresa. I can highly recommend the restaurant that is immediately next door to the hotel (El Facon) for dinner. And I also recommend the cafe that is next door to that restaurant - it does really nice breakfasts and brunch - you really are spoilt for choice for good places to eat in Santa Teresa. The staff at the hotel were super helpful. My phone broke whilst on our trip, which was a nightmare as it meant I couldn't access my emails (as logging in from a new device meant I'd be sent a text message to verify it was me). We had prebooked our ferry and the lady on reception really went out of her way to try and check with the ferry company that it had our booking.

Natalia was the most helpful host I ran into in my 10 days in Costa Rica. She helped me plan my next stage of trip and saved me hours getting to my next destination. She even made sure we had a fruit bowl for an early breakfast as our driver got there before breakfast. So close to some of the best sandy beaches we have visited. Close to restaurants and market. Pool was nice too.

Alfredo and all other staff members were amazing hosts! Super helpful, kind and made us feel right at home in the beautiful small sustainable resort! We loved the pool and our bungalow, I enjoyed spending the early morning in our hammock. Great location for surfing, beaching and enjoying sunsets at the beach nearby!

Front desk super helpful. I gave them a long list of itinerary ideas and they researched and arranged everything. Luis- server, mixologist- so nice. Fabulous omelette at included poolside breakfast. Super value rates. 1 minute walk to best sunset beach and rest/bar. Hotel is half block from main street but super quiet.

Wonderful bungalow stay, close to the beach overlooking a garden oasis. Nice pool. Amazing breakfast. Superb service, greeted by the owner herself. Beautiful design and high quality things. Lots of care put into details of this charming boutique oasis! Just amazing
