First of all, the property is pretty unique. Once you walk into the reception you get welcomed warmly with a happy face and a welcome drink. Going into our room, it was neat and nicely decorated, a very comfortable bed, and the cleaning is superb. Talking about the workers, they are very nice and always happy to help. The swimming pool area is so beautiful with a breathtaking view. restaurant wise, the food is super delicious and clean, hands down some of the best food I’ve tasted. The highlight of this hotel is that the owners really put their heart into it, and it makes you feel like you are welcomed into their home. There is a beach below the hotel, you can easily access it because there are stairs leading to it, you can walk along the beach or swim in the beautiful clear water. Overall, we had an unforgettable vacation and that’s because the hotel gave us a very pleasant stay.

The property is absolutely magical—a true paradise tucked away by the Indian Ocean. Every detail at Be Zanzibar is thoughtfully designed, making it feel like a home away from home. The staff is incredibly warm and attentive, ensuring every moment is special. The rooms are stunning, blending luxury with local Swahili charm, and waking up to the sound of the ocean is simply unforgettable. The food is fresh, delicious, and creative, especially the seafood dishes, which are a must-try! The peacefulness of the infinity pool and the unique activities like yoga and pottery classes made this an unforgettable experience. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The owner was one of the nicest and most hospitable people I’ve ever met. He was so kind and helped us organize our day and plane all our activities. The food in the hotel was delicious. We eat most of the meal there because it was so good. The hotel has so many things included in your stay like a bunch of water activities, yoga classes, pottery classes, and very nice clean pool with the most gorgeous view on the island. The view of the low and high tides are both stunning from the hotel. It honestly took my breath away. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and very spacious. The beds were very comfortable also. And everyone that worked there was so nice and welcoming.

We stayed at Be Zanzibar for a few days after completing a safari in Tanzania for our honeymoon, and honestly, I don’t even know where to start. Even though we were a bit unlucky with the weather, the hotel was absolutely incredible. The restaurant is simply outstanding — every single dish we tried was delicious, without exception (which, to be honest, really surprised me for a hotel restaurant in Zanzibar!). The setting, the pool, the layout, the décor, the artistic touch, the beach, the staff — everything was impeccable. We also loved the yoga class with Lara and the massages at the spa — both were amazing. In short, everything about this place was fabulous. You won’t find another hotel like this one on the island (or anywhere else, really).

Wonderful place to stay and to have a complete experience in Zanzibar. We recommend this for everyone who is seeking for an accommodation with a design inspired by the Tulum vibes. The host, Tarek together with his wife and his son are the most friendly and helpful people we have ever met. Great food, amazing smoothies, we will come back for sure every time we will visit Zanzibar. The people that are working there are always available and ready to help. Amazing stay at The Mora, the staff are great, really accommodating and helpful. The food was brilliant all round, lots of choice at the buffet for everyone. We also had food at the other restaurants (Jikan, Japanese) and (Jua, Brazilian Grill) bear in mind you need to book these 48 hours in advance. Jikan was okay, but probably my least favourite meal on the trip, the restaurant inside has strange lighting and creates an odd atmosphere. Jua on the other hand was great, one of the best meals at The Mora, it’s buffet style for starters, sides and deserts and a La carte for the main, great options and would definitely recommend. The room was very comfortable, air con to keep you cool and a very large bed. We stayed in the junior suite and it was really spacious. The room comes with satellite TV, mostly English speaking channels, a free mini bar with soft drinks, wine and beer. My personal favourite on the room was house keeping setting your room/bed for the evening when you’re at dinner, coming back to that was great and a nice touch. The resort itself has everything you could want, great beach (although bear in mind there are locals on this beach trying to sell you things, but they’re not allowed where the sun beds are so won’t bother you, only when you make your way to the sea) there are 3 large pools, plenty of space, also a smaller pool for kids, shallow but still large! Ordering drinks to your sunbed was a huge plus! Overall, The Mora was perfect. There’s lots to do!

From the moment I arrived, the experience was phenomenal. The staff accommodations were top notch, and the service they provided to cater to our needs was exceptional, even though the resort had a strong family oriented vibe. I chose this place to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and they outdid themselves in making it a memorable occasion. Every staff member at the desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. They assisted me in decorating our room and made me feel truly special throughout my stay. Whenever I had any minor issues, they were always there to provide prompt assistance. I highly recommend this resort to any American traveler planning a visit to Zanzibar. It’s an ideal destination for families seeking a special getaway or a romantic retreat for significant others. The amenities are simply outstanding, and the pool is a must try. I also had the opportunity to go diving at Mora, and the diving team was fantastic. They made the experience safe and enjoyable. Before I conclude, I want to highlight the exceptional kitchen staff at the Horizon. Every single one of them, from the waitresses to the servers, was amazing. I can’t recall all their names because it was truly a diverse group. There was Queen, Christopher, Deman, Georgie and many more. Interacting with everyone was such a delightful experience that I lost track of their names. I will be back. Until next time guys.

WOW EMERALD ZANZIBAR Out of the many countries that I have traveled to, and several five star resorts that I have stayed at, I must honestly say that I’ve never experienced greater excellence in service than at Emerald Zanzibar. From the powdery, white sand beach, to the delicious restaurants, to the exceptional staff, who all go out of their way to cater to you, make conversation with you, and make you feel like the most important person in the world. The rooms are extremely spacious and clean, the grounds are full of beautiful gardens, there are multiple pools, multiple restaurants, and the value for the money is certainly there. I will absolutely be returning!!! Thank you Mohammed in reservations, Bahati on the service staff, Ajay in guest services, and the Nepalese executive chef whose name I can’t recall. Wow wow wow!!

This is a new resort. It is sparklingly clean due to the efforts of all the lovely staff onsite. Of special note are staff members Edgar, Sadik at the pools, Khadija on the beach and George at reception. So welcoming! The facilities, food and guest rooms are top rate.

The people working at the Mora were great! Funny, kind and patient (no matter how demanding a guest was..) The room was great and food options were varied. Great location with the option to lay by the pool or access the white sand beach direct via the hotel

We booked one of the rooms right on the beach so the view and our plunge pool were definitely highlights, as was the beach itself. Absolutely beautiful. All the staff were welcoming and helpful and the ambience throughout was great.

The food was great, the location is excellent if you like snorkeling scuba diving or swimming with dolphins. There are rooms with a private pool and private access to the beach.

We had the most incredible experience at the Zanzibar Queen Hotel! Our bungalow, complete with a private pool and direct access to the beautiful Indian Ocean, was more than amazing. It truly was the perfect ending for our perfect honeymoon. From the moment we arrived, we always felt taken care of. The property itself is extremely beautiful and spotlessly clean, a true paradise on earth. What stood out the most was the extraordinary service and the kindness of the staff. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect in every way. This hotel exceeded all our expectations and created memories we will cherish forever. We cannot recommend it highly enough!

We absolutely love Queen and we’re very happy we picked this hotel in Zanzibar! We spent many days reading reviews, pros and cons, trying to decide where to stay. We wanted a property with infrastructure and personality, not too commercial -and Queen Hotel was exactly what we had in mind. In fact it overcame our expectations. -The rooms are simple, but very clean and well maintained. Comfortable bed, good shower and lovely balcony. -The property is very cute, with hammocks, volleyball court, spa, nice pool area, and a station with water shoes that can be borrowed for free. -Our favorite part was the restaurant, which has a new menu every night with delicious food and different entertainment attractions. The barbecue night was really fun. The prices are fair, around $6 for a cocktail or starter, main courses ranging from $12-$20. -They offer shuttle from/to the airport and a huge variety of tours. The hotel is right next to a diving center and we had one of the most amazing experiences while scuba diving. We didn’t have the certification, so they provided a lesson at the pool and organized everything for us. -They have water dispensers throughout the property, so guests can refill their bottles anytime. -The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was perfect! 10/10 would recommend

The staff was super friendly and they really took good care of us. Whatever we needed they provided and gave us a good information for spending our time in Zanzibar, they organised trips and transport. The food was really good, especially the new pizza recipe makes really good snack during the day, when launching beside the pool. The pool was fantastic, it is cleaned every morning and big enough for everyone. I would also recommend to try the SPA services. Also I loved the facilities for training in the morning (the gym and the yoga place) and enough space outside to have fun playing valley ball with my family.

This is a luxury hotel, everything is exceptional. But it also depends on your room, there are rooms with a private pool, others are with a private hot tub in the garden. And there are very simple rooms. The food is good, the alcohol is good, and the entertainment and facilities are good too. The staff are very friendly and room service is around the clock.

Amazing place, very good value for money. Went for a honeymoon. Rooms were lovely, we were upgraded to a room with a private pool. Food was amazing good variety and always full, staff were exceptional. With the all inclusive activities were included which we utilised frequently. Opportunities also to do excursions. Was amazing for the 4ish days we spent there. Preferred this over Bawe Island.

First off: ALL the staff are incrediblly helpful, friendly, polite and attentive, including reception, restaurant waiters and food servers, pool staff and entertainment, cleaners, gardeners, management and even the guy in the Suntours office. Food and drink: Breakfasts, coffee and breakfast all very good and varied - easily have a different style breakfast every day. Main pool handily sited next to main ginger bar with wide range of alcoholic /non-alcoholic cocktails, beer, wine. Informal swim up option or drinks brought to lounger, as you prefer. Loved the option for afternoon tea /coffee with cakes or sandwiches, in the shade. We loved the buffet lunches and dinners, with choice of where to sit (sun/ cool/ shade/ breeze etc, depending on daily whim) and the ongoing jackdaws vs. bamboo sticks entertainment. The "happy birthday" waiting staff harmonies were great. Loved the cool dude on electric piano with his reggae/ zydeco / blues fusion vibes in the main restaurant in the evenings. We managed 3 trips to the Krystal fusion restaurant (excellent, our fave) and one to the steak. The evening entertainment was very good, although we preferred the bands and musicians to the rap/breakdancing. But very varied and aomething for everyone. They even ran the odd game of bingo. The beach, the sea and the views were just wonderful. The beach sellers were not overly intrusive and actually quite friendly. Very easy to get a kayak or paddleboard, etc.

The ambiance, service, food, and even the weather were exceptional! I want to thank everyone who helped keep my room sparkling clean and cozy, prepared delicious food and drinks, and maintained the unique ambiance at the restaurants, reception, beach, and pools. I also want to thank Veronica, the bartender at the small bar located just after the main swimming pool on the way to the beach.

We stayed here for our Honeymoon and even though it was just one night it was absolute perfect! We booked the private bungalow with private pool and when we entered there were dimmed lights, music in the background and rose pedals everywhere. It was absolute perfect and they sure knew how to create an atmosphere. The next morning at check out we got even surprised with a little gift and a little flower shower. Thank you so much for making us feel so special! We could not have asked for a better kick off into Marriage Life! Asanteni saaana.

The property is great, I got the room with the private pool and it was totally worth it. The staff is very polite and helpful, they have direct beach access which is fabulous. Special mention for Angela who kept checking on us during our stay!

Highly recommend the Seaview King Suite with private pool. All the amenities needed are provided, the interior villa is beautifully designed with traditional and contemporary touches and the air con temperature is perfectly set. You walk straight out of the beachfront facing private pool villa onto the white sand beaches of Kiwengwa and it's just bliss. Couldn't ask for a better location or better proximity to the most gorgeous waterfront and a floating jetty overlooking the purest aquamarine waters that is simply heavenly.

Write your review We booked the presidential suit. On arrival Angela and Victor and everyone else were very welcoming, they made us feel as if we were in our second home! They were helpful and gave us the guid to what to do in the island. The room was AMAZING! We had a private pool and the suit was in front of the beach 😍 They have daily shows in the resorts at 9:30 PM, a different show everyday! Amazing resort with a really good prices 👌🏽

We stayed in a villa with a stunning sea view and a private pool—an unforgettable experience where you can truly unwind and enjoy nature’s beauty. The villa was clean and well-maintained. Every evening, the friendly staff would come by to close the curtains and prepare the room for the night. Fantastic! The spa is very clean and offers a variety of professional treatments. The full-body scrub and massage were both relaxing and well-executed. The gym is equipped with some Technogym machines, allowing you to do a few exercises during your stay.

It was not the first time we stayed at this property, and once again, everything was simply outstanding! The location is absolutely perfect – a corner of Nungwi away from the crowds – just what we love: peace, comfort, and breathtaking views from our villa right on the cliffs. The saltwater pool is a perfect size, the gardens are beautifully maintained, and the spacious rooms are immaculately cleaned twice a day. We also loved the impressive and creative lighting design in the foyer – a real eye-catcher! The staff throughout the entire property were always courteous and kind – whether at the reception, security, housekeeping, by the pool, in the restaurant, or on the Jetty. We stayed on a half-board basis, and both breakfast and dinner were varied and delicious. In addition to the buffet, there was always something freshly grilled or prepared, and the staff gladly fulfilled every request. A real highlight remains the Jetty – such a unique and special place within the resort. We spent many unforgettable hours there: the food was always fresh and delicious, and the staff were genuinely warm and attentive. It was a true pleasure to see some familiar faces among the team again – like meeting old friends. As returning guests, we were even surprised with a lovely gesture during dinner – special thanks to Supervisor Mishan for such a thoughtful touch! We will most definitely be back! 🌴✨

Beautiful hotel combining traditional design architecture with five-star accommodation. The Ocean Suite was superb, private, and with a sea view. We came for our honeymoon and left on cloud nine, feeing we'd had an extremely personal experience made possible by the staff, each of whom are, professional, willing to help, smiley, and with a great deal of heart! Situated slightly east at the northern tip of the Island, it's not possible to see the sunset directly, however it more than makes up with peace and tranquillity, especially compared to hotels on the nearby busy beachfronts where the sunset can be seen, and which are accessible from the hotel. It has a great infinity pool, much larger than usual resort pools, and sunbathing beds overlooking the blissful turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean uninterrupted by anchored boats. The food is EXCELLENT!! Well worth going half board. We stayed 11 nights, with so much choice avoiding any feeling of repetitiveness. We definitely left much healthier than we arrived! Al carte meals are also available on the romantic pier which were included in our package. We really appreciated getting to know the most senior staff as well who were very open about how they strive to make the experience even better for everyone. For a chilled out, beautiful experience, in a gorgeous hotel, Essque Zalu is very highly recommended!

If i could give this place 10 stars i would...... The jetty bar is unbelievable, with access for swimming in the sea. I stayed at the seafront suite & being woken up by waves & breathtaking views of the ocean. Themed buffet dinners with variety of food and tasty deserts. We had different entertainment for three nights ( karaoke, dancers, dinner by the pool with beautiful Christmas decorations). Meat on the grill. The pools are beautiful & we had water polo.

Our stay at Essque Zalu was absolutely wonderful. The staff were hardworking, kind, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy throughout our stay. The pool was definitely a highlight — Hassan, the pool attendant, was great fun and incredibly accommodating. James, the fitness instructor and Swahili teacher, was a true professional who brought so much energy and enthusiasm; we’re so grateful for his classes and for making us feel so welcome. Matteo and Robina were also fantastic and made our days even more enjoyable. The bar and restaurant team were exceptional, creating such a welcoming atmosphere. They all helped us to have a fun and memorable experience and were great with our two girls. We miss them already. Both breakfast and the dinner banquets exceeded our expectations — the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and offered an impressive variety. The service was warm and genuine. Our accommodation was very comfortable and cleaned regularly. Overall, we’re so grateful for our stay at Essque Zalu. The warmth of the staff and the beauty of the resort made it a truly memorable experience.

A tranquil, beautiful and relaxing stay at Reef and Beach Resort Hotel in Jambiani. The amenities, the surroundings and the amazing staff exceeded our expectations. Our first visit to Zanzibar and we were greeted with warm, welcoming hospitality by all staff at the resort. A big thank you to Mohammed(Reception), Ali (Reception), Saeed (Reception), Mohammed (Food and Beverage Manager), Hazlah (Waiting staff), Nawapenda our wonderful (Room Attendant) and Thomas (Security). Our room was large and spacious with a huge bathroom and lovley decor. We booked the front Ocean Swim Up Room (Room 840), which had beautiful sunrise and sunset views. AC in the room was great. Water was provided daily and replenished. The hotel all inclusive food and drinks were delicious and plenty of choice. Can not fault it. Variety of restaurants to dine in. We hired a car and there is free parking onsite.

This is by far the most amazing property in Zanzabar from the staff to the food. This chain of hotels knows how to do it right they cater to every single dietary restriction, very easy and effortlessly, including vegan and gluten-free. You can try local Zanzabar cuisine and different food every single day and also they just added an amazing Indian restaurant! The chefs are available anytime to make you special food upon request! This is something you will not find at another hotel . The staff here is absolutely wonderful everyone from Daniel and Julius to the front and manager who did everything to make our stay wonderful . There was a mistake in our booking so we had to move rooms 4 times but it was absolutely perfect and I felt no stress at all ! The eagle Ray Diving center is absolutely spectacular and I enjoyed many dives there. My only regret is not staying longer and trying out a different hotel! I cannot wait to come back next year for my third time. The pool is huge and deep so there’s so much fun to be had. This is probably the only resort in Zanzabar where the owner has the Messiah under control and they don’t harass you. You can actually walk on the beach and enjoy your stay and not be bothered which is impossible anywhere else!!

Our 10 is for the staff. They just could not do more for our stay to be exceptional. The staff in reception were very attentive and the ones in Jetty bar always smiling and their actitude was faultless. However, I would like to mention the animation team, Tony and Johnson, as thanks to them our stay was just amazing. We enjoyed the Aqua Gym classess and the Swahili lesson was just such a good idea to learn the basics for our stay. The animation team also plan nights out in pool or beach parties and we just could not feel safer and enjoyed our evenings more, they showed us around, teach us some african dances and they took us back to the hotel at the time we wanted to leave. Tony and Johnson were the best staff the hotel could have on their animation team. I would also like to mention Jackline, worker in Mambo bar, as we spent quite a bit of time there and she could not be better at her job, on our 2nd day she already knew what we were drinking and when and how we liked our drinks, just amazing.

We just had our best vacation ever at Reef & Beach Jambiani. For us it was a very special time, as we had our beach wedding organized by the hotel stuff and it was simply perfect and incredible. Hat off, really! During our 10 days stay the staff was non stop helpful, kind, friendly and always with a big smile on the face - we were treated like royalty :) Besides, the variety of food was incredible, and extremely delicious. The different kind of meats, sea-food, fish, the live cooking corner and fresh fruits are beyond all expectations! We were absolutely speechless from the very first moment by the bungalow we had, the environment, the turquoise ocean, the gardens, pools, the friendly monkeys, the Mango & Jetty bars ;-) and mainly extremely impressed by the team making dreams happen!🤗 Hint for any quests: do not skip the massages or any spa related services either, it is completely worth it! I already miss the friendly faces we met in the hotel, from the event managers to the bartenders, waiters and waitresses, the cooks, masseuses, cleaning ladies and gardeners. Million thanks for everything and see you guys next year🥰

It is difficult to describe Tulia in words, but I will summarize saying that among many top hotels I have ever stayed around the world, Tulia was overall the best. Service makes a huge difference, and at Tulia, you are truly treated like a majesty. The staff is so nice, they will make anything to surprise and please you. The Beach Front Villa is incredible: a spacious, comfortable and cozy room with your private garden/ sand strip overlooking the ocean. The beach is amazing, colored in different tones of light blue and the beach sand is almost white. The hotel facilities include a superb pool, an amazing restaurant with the possibility of dining in front of the blue sea, and countless delicious options for every meal (you have at least 6 different choices/ meal/ day) and a top spa, with one of the best massages I have ever had. We were in our heneymoon and had a great time at Tulia! We were even surprised with an amazing private romantic outdoor dinner offered to us! Many thanks to all the staff for this wonderful experience!

The staff are a real highlight of this resort - very customer-focused and wanting to please (special shout-out to Petr in guest relations, Joseph from the wait staff & Loweshi from the Maasai team). Great location if you want to just chill-out and relax (which was my intent!). Small resort and does not feel over-crowded at all - lots of places to chill. Good pool and loungers looking out over the ocean (can walk beach at low tide and stairs leading straight to ocean for swimming). Impressed with the food - not always the case with all-inclusive places; but here was very good quality and options. Their local farm for fresh produce was a nice touch. Fun bar staff and again drinks all-inclusive. Rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Really lovely gardens around the resort. Overall, really enjoyed my stay.

From our first arrival we were greeted with cool towels and warm smiles. The staff is amazing!! Esther at the front desk was very accommodating on our last day- our flight wasn't until late at night so got a lovely extra late check out. The food each day was prepared fresh and most delicious! Our room was the honeymoon suite which including a private pool and the maintenance guy always made sure to clean our pool as well. Having beach access from our room was a great plus because we were in the ocean/beach a lot! This place has not seen the last of us!!!

From the staff at the front desk (Ester), to Ahmed and Sophia in housekeeping, to all the restaurant staff- all wonderful and nothng was too much for them! The staff all work extremely hard, and always with a smile! The hotel is quite small, but it is lovely. We had a 'honeymoon suite with private pool', which was pure luxury! We had a beach facing room and would get up most mornings to watch the sunset above the sea from our private veranda with pool. The food options were lovely. I can not fault this place and would definitely recommend!

We had an amazing stay for our honeymoon. Excellent service and beautiful facilities that are well maintained. Food was consistently great. Nice massages although the spa area is a bit small. The beach itself was not the greatest due to seaweed but the staff did the best to rake it up during low tide. Beautiful pools and swim up bar. Only one area that might make sense to update a bit: For the price, it was odd that there were no sparkling wine options in the all in inclusive package and that certain common beach drinks made with local alcohol were extra (like pina coladas). Perhaps the all inclusive option should include a premium drink per day, or premium drinks are discounted if you're already paying all inclusive rates? Nevertheless we would strongly recommend this hotel and would definitely choose it again in a heartbeat.

Truly sensational. This ‘hotel’ only has 4 rooms so it has a really personal feel, the staff seem to take real pleasure in making you feel welcome, relaxed, well fed, and thoroughly looked after. The room was brilliant with great views and a private plunge pool. Asante sana.

Hello & Jambo, We stayed at Jua Retreat for 10 days and it was perfect. The hotel deserves the name "PARADISE". The bungalows, the food and drink, the atmosphere and this view! But the absolute highlights are Hassan, Jamal, Emmanuel, Mousa, the kitchen chief, the cleaning team, our driver, our guide and the poolboys! We have never had such a great service. The team is incredible and we really enjoyed the talks. Especially we want to thank Hassan, he surprised us with a meal on a boat in the moonlight. Thank you so much! Hassan and his team are incredibly nice and good people. We will miss you! You only deserve the BEST! The concept of Jua is unique and just great. We are sure that we will meet again. Asante sana! our stay in Jua was a magic holiday. All the staff ( Hassan, Emmanuel, Mousa, and the Kitchen Chief ..) were very professional. They did everything we requested. The Villa is very beautiful ( the only thing to improve will be to avoid insectes come in...otherwise il was very nice ). The food was amazing..Thanks for all the staff .

Unique gateaway in a secluded area in Zanzibar. Amazing team of hosts, high quality gastronomy, perfect to unwind, rebalance and enjoy nature’s beautiful offerings. The colors of sky and ocean, the brightness of a sky illuminated with stars, the softness of the winds take you to a different dimension. Big thumbs up to Nigel.

There was nothing to dislike. Everything was just perfect, the staff and food was exceptional. Just four bungalow rooms, set apart which gave privacy. Coffee and home made biscuits brought to the veranda first thing in the morning to enjoy while looking over the beach and sea.
