Loved the private pool and the ocean view. Found out the owners were originally from Canada and that was amazing, needs to be promoted on their site with the back story(I for one would love to hear it).

We stayed at Casa Oropéndola at Canavida Resort from March 31st to April 4th, and it was nothing short of magical. The property is absolutely stunning—tucked into the lush hills of Uvita with breathtaking ocean views and surrounded by nature. Waking up to the sound of howler monkeys and tropical birds, then taking a dip in our own private pool while watching the sunrise—unreal. The 2-bedroom home is beautifully designed, with a perfect balance of modern comfort and eco-luxury. Everything was spotless and well-equipped, especially the kitchen, which made it easy to enjoy meals at home. We spent most of our time outside on the patio or in the pool, soaking in the peaceful vibes. The location couldn’t be better. It’s close to the beaches, waterfalls, and the national park, but still feels totally secluded and serene. The drive up is part of the adventure (definitely recommend a 4x4), and the views are 100% worth it. The hosts were fantastic—super responsive and thoughtful, making sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our return. If you're considering a stay here—do it. You won’t regret it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend!

What an excellent property! The family that runs it is dedicated to making sure all guests (including kids) have a great vacation. The property is fairly new, and the owners are always improving it. Behind the condos is a grassy area with a trampoline and badminton—perfect for kids or your inner child. Our six-year-old loved the pool and trampoline. At dawn and dusk, the property comes alive with the wildlife you come to Costa Rica to see. Have your binoculars ready by the pool deck for the show—and don’t miss the sunsets and starry skies. The condos were clean and well-equipped for cooking. The propane grills had everything we needed to grill out. It’s about 5KM/3Mi up the mountain, a 20-minute drive. We visited in March 2025 and used a driver (Caleb—highly recommend) to get up and down. It’s around 10Mil or $20 each way, worth it for the incredible views. I’ve traveled the world and this place will forever stand out. I’m already planning to stay for a month or two in the future. The team was excellent—very communicative and helpful—and even arranged everything with our driver Caleb, who was amazing and always available, including early morning pickups.

Canavida is an amazing place and we’re really happy we found it. It’s brand new and the owners are slowly building the place out so we were lucky to be one of the first people to stay here. From the start, David had great communication and was super accommodating when our trip was delayed. He also kindly upgraded us to a larger villa and the property was amazing. The living and dining room was spacious and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could need to cook (the sushi and sake set was also a big plus). Having AC in the main rooms was a big plus as it does get hot when the sun enters the property. The best part was definitely the view and the pool - it was a fantastic place to watch the sunset every day. David and Jonathane were helpful throughout our stay, answering any questions we had promptly. They also have great local connections and were able to hook us up with tours and a surf school. The property is about a 10-15 minute drive up a dirt road from the main shops and restaurants of Uvita. We were there in the dry seasons and had no problem doing it in our SUV in 2WD but if it was wet 4WD would probably be needed. David also offered to have someone go down to Uvita for us if we needed something picked up and didn’t want to drive into town. Overall we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend Canavida to anyone looking for a place to stay in Uvita!

I have been traveling for pleasure and for work throughout my life. I have been using hotels.com for on average 50+ hotel nights per year last 10 years. And finally, I felt I should leave a very positive review. Canavida Villas & Resort is the first booking where the everything exceeded the expectations. Top Location, service, communication, quality of stay, THE VIEW, the staff, the people, the pool, THE GRILL, the nature... I don't know where to start or to end. Basically images are in most hotel presentations showing a refined view of reality, in this case the nice photos of the property did not reflect the reality, IT WAS EVEN BETTER IRL! If you want to have a weekend or a week at one of the best locations in CR, then you just found it. Yes, it is on a hill = there is a challenging climb with your car, but you can get there with a 2 wheel drive. Uvita as location is also very nice, but why bother to go there except for grocery shopping, this resort is a paradise you don't want to leave!

We had total privacy, a wonderful plunge pool and a view across the trees and valley to the Pacific, sunsets and Uvitas whale's tail, a huge sand bar that appears and disappears with the tide. The food was very good, but not excellent. It is luxurious and everyone tries really, really hard to please guests. Toucans and other birds stopped by our patio, 10 feet away. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Very special and private place. Our villa was nicely decorated and had a nice private pool with view of the ocean. The staff was outstanding. First night we ordered room service for dinner. The breakfasts and the dinner the following night we had in the central building with a great view of the whale tale. We appreciated the quiet and very private villa while having access to a large pool and the amenities of full stacked bar and restaurant. A nice touch was the welcome sign and the artfully sliced pineapple as a welcome gift. One word of caution. This place is only reachable with a 4WD. It is impossible to climb up the hill otherwise. We highly recommend this place and will be back some time in the future.

Wow. Just wow. First up - Leo was our host and was awesome. Great work Leo! All the staff was great. I'm tired of booking hotels that look good in the pictures then turn out to be disappointing. Golden Pineapple goes the other way. It's breathtaking. Everything here is top notch. I won't repeat everyone else, the rooms are amazing. Outdoor showers, tub and personal pool - brilliant. You can sit outside, (naked if you want!), in your own suite surrounded by jungle mountainside watching CR birds and animals around you. I was worried about the restaurant prices being too high. They are not - in my opinion they match most other table restaurants or even lower than most other 4-5 star hotel restaurants, in my experience. And the food is excellent - a little more rich than fresh, but still quite pleasing. This hotel is on a mountain and the road to access it is too. Don't be a hero. You're not getting up here with a 2wd car. If the rentals are all out of 4wd then you're paying for the taxi. This is the only downside of being here, the taxis are now charging $25 USD per trip from the nearby town. (Feb 2024). That adds up if you want to go out a lot. But honestly, book this hotel just to stay in the beautiful room and relax!

FIRST TIP: Make sure you have a 4x4 truck, the mountain incline decline is very steep. Outside of that my stay here was outstanding. I just got back from celebrating my birthday and the staff as well as the owner was very kind, very welcoming. They stayed up all night and giving us directions and leading us up the mountain until we got there and I truly appreciate that. And then on my birthday they made a cake and sing Happy Birthday it was very sweet. The cleaning staff does an amazing job keeping the rooms clean. Once we left and came back to our rooms it was spotless smelled amazing and they kept the pools clean as well. The chef did his thing every night and the food was very delicious. Thank you for showing me a great time while there. The views were fantastic.

If you are looking for breathtaking jungle mountain views with the ocean shimmering in the distance while you're being pampered in the lap of luxury, then this is your place. My husband and I spent 10 days here on our long overdue honeymoon (after 15 years of marriage), and we loved every minute. The staff are incredibly friendly, professional, and beyond accommodating. Our villa was absolutely beautiful, while still modern, and was cleaned twice a day while we were out on adventures or at dinner. Our villa's private plunge pool and wooden deck were perfect for just soaking in the incredibly scenery, watching Toucans in the trees, and listening to the howler monkeys. The food is delicious, and we were spoiled every meal! There is SO much do in the surrounding area, which isn't super touristy. The resort works with the local guides to create your itinerary for your stay, and are always ready to organize transportation, or hand you towels or water on your way off to your next adventure. Please just do it! You will only regret not being able to stay longer.

Rancho Pacifico exceeded all my expectations… My husband and I had a wonderful two week stay in their Villa Romantico complete with private plunge pool! The villa itself was lovely with a beautiful view of the famous whale tail beach from the deck area. The staff were extremely attentive at all times and the food was exquisitely prepared! We did several day trip excursions that Rancho Pacifico offered and all were seamless in terms of transportation, itinerary and the guides provided. The hotel is located high up on the mountain overlooking the beautiful Uvita Peninsula and is simply idyllic!

We live in San Jose and have been hearing about about RP for years as the perfect getaway for a busy couple to escape for a much needed break. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty - and never left the property for the couple of days we were there. There really was no need to. All of the meals - especially the special private dinner we had at poolside - were extraordinary. It was peaceful, dramatic and unlike any other hotel we've ever visited.....we think the best in Costa Rica.

Aside from the fact that the view is amazing, the whole resort is modern and beautifully designed. The hand selected staff are personable, talented and made our stay special. We loved that Rancho Pacifico is quiet, private, and permitted us to experience living in a two-story home located in the middle of the jungle with our own pool, patio and no else around.

One of the greatest hotel experiences we've ever had anywhere in the world (and we've stayed at places large and small in over 40 countries). The stunning modern design somehow blends perfectly with the incredible greens of the natural surroundings. The staff could not be more friendly, attentive, and accommodating, with several surprises that I won't spoil by revealing. The extremely bumpy 3km. drive up to Kura from the main highway only magnifies the sense of being in another world above it all. Let them do the driving - if you have a rental, park it at the bottom and they will gladly pick you up. There are only six guestrooms each with a private terrace: two infinity suites in the main building under the infinity pool (the largest rooms and terraces), and two junior suites on the ground floor and two suites on the upper floor of the two neighboring buildings. The junior suites are slightly smaller than the others but being on the ground floor puts you that much closer to nature. Each room has a rain shower with a glass wall to the outside that opens. The fourth building houses a small but beautiful spa. They plan on adding two more guestrooms in 2016. The dining area is covered but open on one side to the infinity pool and amazing unobstructed view of the coastline and on the other to the mist-shrouded mountains. All our meals were excellent, with abundant fresh fruit and fish the highlights. It takes some getting to, but once you're there, you won't want to leave.

We came here on our honeymoon and were completely blown away. After a long day of traveling, we were immediately greeted by a friendly staff with hot towels, and our stresses immediately dissolved. The staff here is the most accommodating and loving group of people I could ever imagine - they went out of their way with various surprises (room upgrade, a night in the spa to ourselves with a hot bath and dessert, a bottle of champagne in our room, breakfast on the roof overlooking the oceans and being amongst the birds) to make our trip very special. We spent about half the days by the pool, where the staff members would make us their favorite drinks, and we loved just chatting with them all, learning about the local culture, and hearing all of their stories. The other half of the trip, we went snorkeling, hiking, and horseback riding - three fabulous excursions! I cannot say enough great things about this place but we're already psyched to come back for another trip to Kura! HIGHLY recommended.

Ok so I literally never leave hotel reviews but that changed after staying at Kura! First, I must inform you that it’s a trek to get there driving wise (have them come pick you up) but once you get there OMG! The ambiance is insane and they undoubtedly have the best view in Uvita! Hands down! It doesn’t even matter which room you get. If you are lucky enough to get the room with the shower with the view of the ocean I promise you, you won’t want to leave! We didn’t either! The food was amazing! And the service was A1! This resort is the definition of a 5 star resort! I would highly recommend! The pool was amazing and the red lights in the room really set the mood! Overall me and my fiance agreed that this was the best resort we’ve ever stayed at and we’ve been to other 5 star resorts in the Almafi coast as well! You won’t be disappointed!

I can not say enough great things about Kura! Sindy, Sergio, Jay, Lalu, and the others were so amazing! They made sure our every need was taken care of. They anticipated any thing we might need and were beyond friendly. We had the infinity pool villa and oh my gosh it was beyond breathtaking! The view was amazing and we woke up every day to toucans playing in the trees right outside our room. The Kura stuff went out of their way to make our stay amazing! They drove us to any excursions we wanted to take and the drinks were amazing every time we arrived. The food is impeccable and you will not be disappointed. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and they made me room so romantic with fresh fruit and a custom dinner menu.

We have been to Ojochal several times and in fact stayed in this place prior to new ownership. Now this place is a big WOW. Russell and Scott are amazing hosts - taking care of our every need. We were greeted at our car by Russell and Rob who assisted us with our luggage. The pool is to die for and In the evening, we were served wine by Scott and had glorious conversation in an intimate seating area above the pool with other hotel guests. The morning breakfast was like being served in a gormet restaurant! Fruit, juice, coffee, delicious coconut pancakes one day and the best omelet I have had in long time the first day there. I felt like royalty being served each course and making sure I had everything I needed. Coffee, juice, discussion of the surroundings - I felt like I was in a five star restaurant being served by the finest waiters. The surroundings are amazing whether it be the delightful decor to the red macaws that I saw flying over the valley. Playa Tortuga in the background. The private patio in the room was large and a great place to relax. Luscious white cotton sheets and a lightweight white comforter made me feel like I was in one of the finest hotels anywhere. The sounds of the ocean can be heard from the room but we opted for the air conditioning. If you are looking for a hotel in the area, this is a fantastic place to go. Five star all the way.

La Alma de Ojochal is a lovely boutique hotel! We stayed for four nights and enjoyed every minute. We enjoyed a live show with Ken and John and a live show performed by Shorty Hills while we were there. The room was comfortable (the bed was heavenly) and the newly remodeled bathrooms were gorgeous! Our favorite spot was the balcony where we enjoyed a serenade by 8 toucans 15 meters away. Scarlet Macaws cruised in the early morning and a lot of other beautiful bird species entertained us. The breakfast by José was AMAZING and our friend Alan made sure we were taken care of. The pool area is beautiful. The owner, John, is kind and welcoming. I would give him an A as a host. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him. He is also an EXTREMELY talented musician! We live in San Mateo, CR, and have traveled extensively throughout the country. La Alma de Ojochal is our new home away from home in the Southern Zone! We will be back! Thank you John, Janet and staff for a wonderful experience! 😘❤️

Stayed here for 6 nights in February 2014 in a comfortable, large room with overhead fan and air-conditioning. Staff and owner were very friendly, bringing water to you unasked and offering other drinks as well when you were sitting by the lovely pool. Sunsets were beautiful from the bar over the Pacific Ocean. Birdlife was spectacular from the gardens and the open air restaurant. Hotel is situated on top of a hill, roughly 1km up a gravelled road which is steep in places, but easily negotiable if you take your time. Food is available at the sister hotel in the evenings, about 600 metres away and there are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area, the closest being a 15 minute walk. Having the use of a vehicle would be advantageous to explore the area and get to beaches etc. We loved the beach at Pinuela, plenty of shade but it is in the Marine Conservation area with a warden, so there is a small charge until 4pm.

We stayed 4 nights at Alma de Ojochal and enjoyed each one. Owned by Canadians, the hotel price includes breakfast with lots of fruit, eggs any style, coffe and juice. The eating area overlooks the Pacific Ocean, a beautiful garden and a pool. You can also have dinner there. The area is very convenient to all the activities in the Ballena area. John and Janet, the owners, will help you find your way to anywhere you want to go. John is also a musician and plays at the adjacent night club almost every night. Fun place to go with great drinks and dinner if you want it too. Fortunately, there is no sound that seeps into the units at the hotel. Something to note - when you approach the very steep but short driveway to the hotel for the first time, it can be a bit daunting. But after you do it once (put even your automatic rental car in low), it will be easier and not as scary.

Very quant little hotel with a great personality. Although tough to find, it was well worth the trip down south of Dominical. We arrived late from San Jose airport and were greeted promptly by Jose whom turned out to be an awesome host. We were taken to our casita which gave a excellent view of the ocean from our balcony. The pool and lounge area/grounds were well kept and you can tell they pay close attention to detail. The owners were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed to ensure the best stay. By the time it was ready time to leave, I wished we had another week to stay at this hotel. I would definitely go back and recommend this spot to all whom wish to get away for a private adventure. The only downside is it's not that close to any other major tourist spot so your essentially on your own which is not a bad thing!

The room was spacious and pretty, the bed was comfortable. There's a nice pool and pool area with a good view and my bungalow was up near the pool also. Restaurant at the entrance where breakfast is served works well for other meals too. There's an adventurous trail to get to the beach. The people at the reception couldn't be nicer!

The breakfast was basically but it was free. It would be nice to include some local fruit in the breakfast. The pool and the view were amazing. Well worth the forest walk to the beach which is about 15 minutes but suitable for active people only. We had a dog with us and it was nice to feel so welcome. Our room was near the pool and away from the road noise which was great.

This was my first trip to Costa Rica. Our first airbnb did not work out but finding and booking at Gaia Ecolodge saved the trip! This personal villa had air conditioning, a great shower, king size be and was very clean. The pool was nice. The onsite bar and restaurant is amazingly delicious- having breakfast included was an added bonus. Also the best pina colada I've ever had! Would absolutely stay here again!

We were welcomed so warmly from the front desk employer and the manager. We actually were the only once the night we booked, so we had a great and quite stay. The room was very comfortable and the pool was relaxable. Moreover the food is fantastic! We ordered several times the homemade Ravioli because we loved them. Thanks also to the cook who did a great job :). We highly can recommend this place.

Maikol,Frankito, Ariana and the rest of the staff were very lovely and accommodating! The villas were nice and cozy. The pool was very nice, big and clean and the property was well maintained with a beautiful garden. The food was exceptional! I will definitely return to stay next time I am in Ojochal!

We arrived a bit late and Chris waited for us to give us the key and show us around. What a marvel then to wake up in the morning and take an early dive in the river just in front of the room. Kristen and Chris and really delightful hosts being in the mean time super discreet and always there as soon as you ll need a tip, a recommendation for a tour or an activity or anything you need to know. It was an incredible stay in a very special place very close from the town but still nested in the close by quiet hills.. we will definitely come back to enjoy all the great amenities, the pool and the superb private bungalows

The location of this paradise could not be any better. It's a private little jungle just at the river with the view on actual jungle. It's absolutely stunningly arranged with plants, little altanas, nukes and a luxurious feel swimming pool. The owners are a couple of incredibly nice, accommodating and fascinating people. The little charming huts have everything you'll need for your stay to be comfortable. If you are looking for a jungle experience but don't like to compromise on the comfort, this place offers both and more, with such a class and amazing atmosphere. You'll never want to leave.

Great location that wasn’t too far from the national park. Very clean, cozy, and private. The pool is always warm and it has lights for you to stay in it until 9PM.

Amazing views. Nice pool. Quiet area. A bit tatty in places, but the only real negative was the poor concierge service.

Super nice place in a gated community. The pictures didn't do it justice. We had a group of four so it was perfect. Lower level had a laundry room and 2 equal sized bedrooms with bathrooms inside. Each room also had a private patio with amazing views. Upstairs had a 3rd bathroom, full kitchen, dining room, living room. The outdoor covered patio wrapped around the side of the house and has even better views. We sat out there for hours at a time.

The location had the best view and the property was even better than we imagined! The host was super friendly, accommodating and met all of our needs. Highly recommend this property for a trip to Uvita!

- Really nice outdoor area with green plants and flowers. On my last day, I had a room with a balcony and a view to the swimming pool and the outdoor area, that was nice. - A communal kitchen - A small swimming pool, maybe 20 meters long? - Staff was nice - Rooms were also pretty nice - Close to the beach - Close to small supermarkets and restaurants (I can recommend the Israeli falafel shop that is like maybe 20 m away? There is also a restaurant that kind of shares the outdoor area with the hotel, it also has nice food. - Laundry service right next door - The hotel is managed really professionally by Kevin. Also, if you have questions - bus, tourist tips, whatever - ask him, he knows it. The other staff members are also nice, but my experience was, they know less than him.

It's a really beautiful place. They have the Rising Sol yoga Shala right on the property. I took two yoga classes there at 8:45 am. The pool is really nice. I was wishing it was a bit cooler getting in on those hot days. The pool was nice at night just like a warm tub. They have an excellent restaurant. It's expensive but the food is so good it's worth it.The shared kitchen was an excellent plus. The location is great because it's walking distance to the beach. The rooms are nice too. I loved staying there and would definitely stay again. Kevin and Gretan were so lovely and helpful.

We had a perfect stay at Yuli hotel! Close to beach and the swimming pool was a great! We relaxed a few days in Uvita and therefore the swimming pool was a big plus. The staff is very friendly, especially Kevin help us a lot! He showed us the bus schedule, so we could travel te next day with the local bus to San Jose instead of a expensive shuttle. Also he arranged the very early in the morning transport for us to the bus station. The dorm room was clean, with a lot of space.

Very, very pretty eco-hotel with an wonderful pool. The rooms were nice and clean and even the dorms had a balcony. Staff at both the hotel and the restaurant Sebas where hotel guests can have breakfast, drinks for the pool and dinner were incredibly nice and helpful. The restaurant food was amazing and there is an option to take yoga classes right at the hotel. Overall a great experience!

Very nice, clean and spatious rooms, swimming pool was great and with good hours of use. The staff was very friendly, courteous and accommodating at all times. It is conveniently located close to the National Park entrance and several tour operators options. A quiet and relaxing environment at the rooms and nice ambient music at the pool area from the restaurant located right beside.

The staff went above and beyond during our stay. When we requested laundry service, they helped us out and accommodated our schedule with an extremely fast turnaround. They also allowed us to relax by the pool before check-in and let us know when our room was ready (a couple hours before we were expecting). We stayed here twice and in two different rooms. One was a 2 bed/1 bath, the other a 4 bed/2 bath. Both rooms were perfect and had everything you could need and more with a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, hot showers with great pressure, and beautiful views of the garden and pool. The AC in the rooms were a life saver and the breakfast was delicious! The location was also perfect, within easy walking distance to corner shops and restaurants. I highly recommend staying here during your trip to Uvita! If you’re looking for a comfortable stay with wonderful staff, look no further.

We loved our stay at Ballena Rey, had a wonderful time...great value for money...our room was cosy and spotless, beds very very comfy, fab shower, kitchenette and living area with netflix 😀...breakfast was very good and the pool was just lovely. Great location, 20 minutes from national park, 5 minutes walk to a little supermarket and a great restaurant! I was sitting by the pool on the last day watching scarlett macaws and toucans flying by, lots of humming birds and colourful butterfly's on the property also but the best thing of all was the amazing staff, so kind and helpful, helped us with taxis, booking excursions, laundry and anything else we requested so a big thank you BALLENA REY for making our stay incredible, we had the best time and will be back! 👌

Gilberto and other staff were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Gilberto recommended Sibu restaurant for my husband's birthday and it was great. Lovely pool (with towels) and regular hummingbirds visiting, which was so special. Comfortable bed and decent shower. A bit of a walk (20 mins) to beach but a really peaceful street. La Fogata was a great pizza restaurant a few mins walk away. Breakfast plentiful at the Rancho by the pool.

Lovely staff team, Gilberto and Gianina were very helpful and went above and beyond. They supported in booking tours and giving recommendations about the area. Apartment was very clean and tidy, and cleaned daily. Pool towels were a lovely addition. Great space to cook with all the facilities needed including large fridge freezer and induction hob. The pool was delightful and such a sun trap in the afternoons!

Small (about 14 rooms), modern, hotel in a good location for visiting various places e.g. Catarata Uvita, Nauyaca Waterfalls, Parque Nacional Marino Ballena, Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge. Many evening dining out options in the local vicinity, although the hotel owner told us there are plans to offer an evening meal option at Ballena Rey very soon. We had room 12: good balcony space, with 2 armchairs, small table top and 2 stalls, cacti at each end of the balcony, ceiling fan; the open plan kitchen and living room area was spacious, with air-conditioning and ceiling fan, 2 armchairs, TV, table and 2 chairs and sufficiently equipped kitchen (though 2 rings for cooking would be preferable to the one ring provided) and good-sized fridge/freezer; spacious shower room with hot water (some of the places we stayed at during our 31 night trip didn't have hot water); bedroom - reasonably comfortable bed, hanging and shelf storage space, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, one bedside table. Very good buffet breakfast - the breakfast ladies did a great job and it was lovely to be able to choose what you wanted, how much you wanted, in what order etc. Very good cleaning service provided in the room and in the hotel grounds. Lovely pool, which we made good use of. And the staff were all very friendly! We really enjoyed our stay at Ballena Rey and were sorry to leave.

This was the best stay during our travel in Costa Rica Westcoast. Gaby and Viktor made it the perfect spot for everyone!!! Families, Singles, Couples, Older and Younger. There are a couple of bungalows on the property. You get a quite big room with A/C. Very clean! The pool was a goody to cool down. The outdoor kitchen is shared and you will find all amneties you can think off. Even if you have to get your breakfast for yourself and prepare it. Gaby offers eggs, Toast, coffee and delicious homemade Marmelade. All day long cool and hot water. And even for the laundry they have a place and some soap. It's all selfservice, but if you need anything ask Gaby! It's a family business and that how it feels like. Don't book any tours upfront in Uvita. Ask Gaby! You get great tours for a very reasonable price! If you are lucky you will see the giant red parrots in the trees at breakfast. Uvita = only Macow rooms and pool

We loved staying at Macaws! Gaby and her family are super nice and very helpfull. We originally only booked two nights but loved it so much we stayed longer. There are 10 cabinas around the central area with a nice pool and communal kitchen. Everything is sparkling clean and tidy. The kitchen has literally everything you need (including coffee from Gaby's fathers coffeefarm) and is very well organised, a great place to meet people and have a chat. The cabinas are spacious, and nicely decorated. We had one with a comfy double bed and single bed, desk, ac and a large bathroom with nice hot shower. Uvita is quite spread out, but from Macaws its easy to get everywhere, the area itself is nice and quiet. So if you're looking for a place with great rooms, a pool and a great kitchen, this is it!

We loved staying at Rooms and Pool Macaws. It's a beautiful, quaint stay in Uvita. We stayed with our 3 children (13,6,3). The town is rural but that adds to the charm. We walked to the Whale Tale and other places downtown. My kids loved the pool, everything was very clean. We used the kitchen every day and it was so convenient to be able to cook breakfast for the kids and store some dessert for the evening. The room is simple but has everything you need. Check in was easy and the owners are wonderful. They go above and beyond to provide an amazing experience. We would definitely stay again.

Location is .5 miles from park entrance. Very quiet location. Easy walk to both main road, shops, and food. Loved the communal kitchen with all appliances to cook just about anything you could think to cook. 2 refrigerators and filtered water. Nice pool. Gaby was amazing. She messaged me once I booked and in the evening after check-in to make sure everything was ok. We like our stay so much we stayed an extra night. Gaby also arranged a taxi for us when we finally left. I will be back in CR in 6 months and definitely plan on staying here again! Muchas Gracias. Pura Vida.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place and even extended our stay because it felt like paradise! The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed – perfect for cooking after a day of adventure. A special thanks to the incredibly kind hosts, Gaby and Victor, whose hospitality and helpfulness made our experience even better. The road was recently paved, so there were no issues with access. The pool was amazing – a perfect refreshment after a hot day, and everything was spotless. Overall, this is a highly recommended place, and we would love to return! Mucho gusto!

This was the highlight of our Costa Rica stay. We so enjoyed our time here. Next time I'll stay 48 days! Don't try to get up the hill with a 2 wheel drive (and don't forget to press the button to engage 4WD). Its not a rough road, it just very very steep and requires lower gears. The facilities are simply elegant, efficient, and well designed. The bed was extremely comfortable with lots of pillows.The cabina we stayed in had a beautiful deck that overlooked a valley full of beautiful birds. Toucans visited the tree below the deck most every morning and evening. The breeze blew most of the night cooling things down nicely. If you get tired of the heat at the beach, climb back up the hill into the wonderfully cool mountain air. There is a common pool area with an outdoor kitchen that is perfectly designed and a great big beautiful wood table. Breakfast was served in the common area at the big table. This gave us a chance to meet the other guests and get to know our hosts. If you are planning a bunch of activities in Uvita, plan for some down days to simply enjoy the cabina and the pool. There is an excellent and convenient restaurant about half way down the hill (Osos Thyme) and a grocery store at the bottom of the road. Nature's Edge cabinas are a destination in and of themselves! We will definitely plan our next Costa Rica trip around an extended stay here!

We arrived with very high expectations having read the reviews but they were more than met during our two night stay at the end of our fortnight in CR. Joe and Keith are excellent hosts who have clearly worked very hard to create a little slice of paradise up in the hills outside Uvita. The casitas are beautifully appointed - incredibly comfy bed, excellent shower, small but functional kitchenette, lovely terrace + hammock, etc. The finish was a high standard and there were several thoughtful touches. The view was beautiful. The shared terrace is a brilliant feature which adds great value to the experience. Joe cooks up a mean breakfast in the morning and the pool area is the perfect place to relax during the rest of the day. With only four casitas it feels very quiet and restful. We enjoyed seeing the toucans in the poolside trees every day. We didn't have a car but we had no problem getting a 4x4 taxi from Uvita ($20+) and even walked down to the waterfall one morning (doable if you don't mind a hot hike back up!). The food delivery service was a little pricey but very handy indeed! We would recommend Nature's Edge to friends and family and will certainly go back if we return to CR. Thank you Joe and Keith for the perfect end to our trip!

Natures Edge is great - exactly like the pics. The rooms are spacious and clean and have everything you need. The view from the balcony is fantastic we saw toucans and monkeys daily! The pool area is great with space to do your own cooking if you don’t want to go out. The hill is as steep as they say but it’s all part of the adventure and is worth it for the great view and peacefulness! Joe and Keith are lovely very open and chatty whilst also giving privacy, they left us some bubbles and chocolates as it was our honeymoon which was really kind! Even before our trip began they were super helpful with car/trip recommendations and booking them for us. The area is great loads of opportunity to do amazing trips nearby - we did 3 and so we’re up most days at 6, Joe delievered smoothies and banana bread to our room at 6.30 so we didn’t miss breakfast and we enjoyed getting back and relaxing by the pool in the afternoons. The place is amazing value for money with most other accommodations on the hill costing 2-4x more for the same view. We couldn’t have wished for anything more from our first stop in Costa Rica.

Everything! I can’t recommend this hotel enough. It’s like a blend between luxury hotel, jungle camping, and a private villa. Natures Edge is more than just a hotel, it’s an experience. You fall asleep to the sound of the jungle all around you, and wake up to the most stunning sun rises, along with bird call and howler monkeys. The views over the jungle are incredible, and every morning we watched Toucans sit in a tree just metres from our balcony. At breakfast, hummingbirds hovered around the flowers beside the pool. There are only 4 bungalows, so it feels very private. We pretty much had the pool to ourselves for two days. And what can I say about Joe and Keith? The most lovely people. We spent part of our honeymoon here, and they decorated our bungalow and left Prosecco in the fridge. Just so lovely. They’ve also thought of everything here. From blue face flannels so white ones don’t get stained, to umbrellas. Those little touches have been really thought out. I honestly can’t recommend Nature’s Edge enough. It’s truly magical, and something quite unique. To be honest, you’d expect to pay twice what it costs. Amazing.

Nature’s Edge is AMAZING! the view is outstanding and Keith and Joe are the friendliest hosts that make you immediately feel like family. They are friendly, kind and thoughtful but not intrusive. They know how to make everyone feel comfortable, and are and willing to help with anything you need. The villas are beautiful and they have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. super comfortable beds, extremely clean and quiet, coffee and tea in your room so you can have your coffee on the deck before the complimentary breakfast is served in the pool area. The views over the jungle is amazing and changes as the light through the day changes. Being higher above the jungle was a few degrees cooler with a nice little breeze than in town and made it a wonderful relief when it is super hot. the pool is a perfect temp. Everything was perfect and we can’t wait to go back! it was our favorite place out of 10 places we stayed on our month long vacation!

Wonderful place to chill. Just hanging out in the villa with views like the patio seating or hammock…the gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the jungle and ocean…the restaurant is great food and cocktails. We ate dinner there all 4 nights and went into town for lunch and beach a couple of the days. We got a couples massage at their spa which is so peaceful by the waterfall. I did suggest that they offer daily yoga as the website is misleading and it looks like they do but you have to book a private session for $70. Including yoga would be a great way to enhance the stay and allow guests to meet each other. There are no activities included so you’re on your own to enjoy the grounds. It’s all couples since it’s adult only and everyone kept to themselves - it was so peaceful and serene. We would definitely go back! We saw toucans and monkeys from our villa and pool!

The hotel is out of Uvita but peaceful with amazing views with a beautiful pool area making it so relaxing. We stayed in the suite overlooking the pool and it was so comfortable and spacious. We also couldn’t tear ourselves away from the delicious food at the restaurant!

We really loved Oxygen, we had the studio which was lovely overlooking the pool with a great balcony and view. The staff were great and really helpful and the restaurant was really nice. The pool has amazing views and we loved the bird watching your we did within the local area, so interesting.

A stunning place! The bar/restaurant and pool area are truly breathtaking and have been done to a very high standard. The staff were all fantastic and the food was generally good. There is lots to explore locally including the free waterfalls you can access from the hotel, a bigger waterfall further down the hill which id definitely recommend and Marino Ballena National park. The only reasons why I haven’t rated this 5 stars is I think the food is very expensive for Costa Rica (and was not the best food we had on our trip - dinner for two was $100 for a shared starter and dessert and a main each, no drinks) and the breakfast is lacking. For the price and calibre of the hotel, you’d expect a continental buffet or something alongside the one breakfast option you get to pick. On our first morning we ordered a smoothie bowl and paid for this in addition as we would have still been hungry otherwise. We noticed other people ordering and paying for additional fruit etc. which I don’t think is right for the price point of this place. I would avoid villa 1, we had a sewage smell (which they did look into) and it’s very close to the pool/staff area. We could hear them early which didn’t bother us as we were up early anyway but if you want to lay in, I’d request a different villa.

My husband and I just returned from Costa Rica and before going I was searching for the most unique place to stay. I did not want to stay at a typical resort and I thought if I was going to Costa Rica I wanted to feel like I was in the jungle. Well I found heaven on earth when I stumbled across Oxygen Jungle Villas!!! I want to first say that this place is not in the upper part of Costa Rica near LaFortuna where all the tourists go (I did not want that for the first half of our vacation). This is located in Uvita which is 3 hours south of San Jose Airport but worth every mile. (We used Arenal Rides to drive us from San Jose Airport to Uvita and they were fantastic) Upon arrival, you drive up a LONG gravel hill to a remote resort that only has 12 ALL GLASS villas (3 sides) that are all spread out on the property. You choose jungle view or ocean view. We chose ocean view which even though the ocean is rather far out, you see it. OH MY, our morning views and sounds were incredible. These villas are so so so beautiful and romantic! And even though there is only one place for dinner, the food and staff is beyond amazing! So utterly friendly and charming. Free breakfast that I am still dreaming about. And the Infinity Pool is an oasis and so quiet! I simply can not recommend this place enough and impress upon anyone that if you want to experience the feel of Costa Rica and something so unique in your lifetime, please go!!!!

Wonderful resort-like hotel, with large spacious rooms, friendly “can do” staff, very good on site restaurant and spectacular views of the ocean. The hotel and grounds are immaculately manicured with fun quirky touches like a gazebo of books and yoga center. The pool is huge and squeeky clean with lots of pool chairs and a bar a very short distance. Included breakfast was way above average; eggs cooked to order, fruit, good coffee, bacon, ham etc..There is artwork throughout the property and many places to walk, jog or exercise. Highly recommend.

The view was amazing. The pool area was big enough and the food was tasteful. The pool was clean and the room felt comfy and really clean. The staff was super nice and helpful The rest was simply amazing

Just what we were looking for. Excellent views and location. Outstanding service. The included. Breakfast was great. Food at the restaurant in general is pretty good. Drinks were great. Warm relaxing pool and poolside atmosphere. The room was spacious and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a yoga and meditation space available for use as well! Excellent bird watching without having to go anywhere. What a treat! They also deeply appreciated that the checkout time wasn't really in the morning and we were able to relax after breakfast.

What a great little hotel with a fab view and lovely pool area (lots of birds flying by). If you have a spare day on your trip, this would be a great place to relax by the pool. We only stayed one night, but could easily have spent 2 here. Great restaurant and staff were super helpful & friendly.

Wooden platform with breathtaking view to do yoga and exercises. Convenient option for laundry. We enjoyed the late check out formula: 25 dollars to stay until 3pm and enjoy the whole day there
